The plan will be to ride from Coram Pines to Cedar Beach via a few challenging hills such as Old Post Rd East & West. We will take a refreshing break at Cedar Beach and then hit the next hill challenge on Harbor Beach Rd climbing up from sea level. The rest of the ride will be flat and rolling. This will be a good chance to start getting our hill legs back. The pace will be a B- and while i hope to come in with an average between 14 and 14.5, i know I and some of you will be slowing down for the hill climbs and our average may drop due to that. Nonetheless, given the climbs this ride is rated for B- riders. Please bring snacks as there will be no lunch stop. There will be bathrooms and water available at beach. Anita's C#806-9662.

This bikeway parallels the Wantagh Parkway from Cedar Creek Park to Tobay Beach. The boardwalk is open to bikes, so we may wind up adding a few more miles to what I posted. Although a road bike is fine, a hybrid would be better, especially on the boardwalk. Bring a snack and water, there will be a stop at the concession stand for hot dogs or pretzels...yummy!
If you can't find a parking spot along South Cedar Street, call me at 631-793-8298 so that we can designate a meeting place.
I'm including a link to check out the park information (bear in mind that the directions to the park listed on the website will bring you to the main entrance and you will be charged the parking fee).

Looking for a good base level A (but up to A+, AA at times possible with wait-ups as needed) pace. No one is getting dropped. Good B+ riders are welcome.
In general I want to see this smooth super efficient team effort to optimize time!!! Smooth but fast in general. Little playing allowed at the few dedicated hilly sections (you will find out). Reassembly after that -- always, no worries.
** Come for a training ride -- "as fast as you are working with me" ** ---- old notes ---- I classified it back down to A all-over -- but we will go some sections at A+..AA pace for sure (if you go and work with me) -- A and good B+ riders are always welcome, may form a trailing group, if any? -- learn how to work as a team!! -- we will have some wait ups (on top of the 1st lil hill if needed) but we will not wait on every turn -- as I also classified it as TEAM, what means exactly this -- stay all together as much as possible and help each other for most efficiency and best pace w/o dropping any one -- regardless, unless on riders request or extreme mismatch.... -- you better be able sit in easy at 19..21mph and try to handle a few faster sections (slow down afterwards for reassembly) -- have fun!
Rocky Point 2 Iron Peer Beach Park for quick snack watching the sound and reassembly, Coffee/Refreshments now in Jamesport Duffys Deli. Watch for weather related updates or delays -- will post any change or cancellations by very latest start time -1 hour at the day of ride, if unsure, contact me. Let's Go Flying. Starts promptly as indicated on top at Tildas Bake Shop, typical moving time 2h45..3h depending on you. Starts out with some rollers on North Country Rd to warm up, will go fast, but will do the best to reassemble group after 1st climb(s) and as needed, group stays together as a Team AND SHARES THE WIND if any and has fun like few flying birds! Read here for past ride logs, stories, photos and details: http://pyzahl.blogspot.com/search?q=RP2IPBPhttp://www.sbraweb.org/sites/all/modules/extlink/extlink_s.png) 2px 50% no-repeat;">(link is external)
However, this is a team style training ride, lean and execute team play, work together not to show off -- with exception of a few designated sections to play... with following regrouping.

Also, there will be a $100 bill tucked under the windshield wiper of everyone's car.

We will take off from Eastport, swing into Manorville, with a gradual rise along Rt. 111. Also included are a few heavy rollers, 3 miles of go at your own pace, and of course a stop at the Beach Bakery. No one will be dropped and wait ups where necessary. Check the ride calendar for any weather or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:30 AM if necessary. My cell number is (631) 804-0751.
Join ALF as he leaves the Manorville King Kullen for a structured moderate paceline ride out to Briermere Farms. ALF has a few things to celebrate and some Briermere goodies would, (ahem), just take the cake.
Check for day of ride postings, in case of rain. We'll then postpone the ride to another day.
I've moved the start to 8:15 (since other rides are also leaving from here that morning) and the location to the Manorville KK lot-park lot. I HAVE ALSO CHANGED THE ROUTE TO AVOID MOST OF OF THE HILLS. Check back here for any changes.
I am posting this as a B- because I have been coming in at a high C+/B- or a low B-. We will still do B- on the flats and wait-ups as necessary on the hills.
The "Plus" will be a 3 mile flat loop to the beach. No optional hilly loop at this time as the basic Slow Hills has enough hills for now. Hills 101. We'll do B- on the flats and whatever we individually can on the hills. No need to keep up on hills; wait-ups as necessary. Stop halfway at the lighthouse in Old Field; bring a snack -- no bathroom there. There is a bathroom at the beach. Cancellation or change if needed by 7:30AM. Cell day of ride only, please:631-835-1454
I thought we would change it up this week go to Middle Island today. We will get there using The Bartletts or Ashton. The average pace for the ride will be between 14.8 and 15.0 mph +/- depending on the roads, wind direction and other conditions which could put the ride in the lower part of a "B". The road speed will be between 15 and 17 mph. Around mile 12 we’re going to stop at the senior citizen discount bagel shop or the deli. There are a few places along the route where a paceline or leg stretches can be done for those who wish.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:30AM, if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride or need directions to the start.
This is my usual hilly ride through Stony Brook, Setauket, Poquot and Old Field.
We'll cruise in the high teens and low 20's. Hills will slow us to a B classification. Average will come in between 15.5 to 16.0. Some pacelining where appropriate. Faster riders, with knowlege of route, will be free to break away at times.
Ride through the area around East Islip south of Montauk Hwy and Islip along Union Blvd. Depending on wind, tide and temps we may do a loop or two on the bike path in Heckscher Park and/or a loop down to Islip Beach. It’s off to Manorville. The average pace for the ride will be between 14.8 to 15.0 mph +/ depending on the roads, wind direction and other conditions which could put the ride in the lower part of a "B". Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -17 mph.) to produce the average. A rest/ food stop at McDonald’s or the bagel shop is on the schedule around mile 12. There are a few places along the route where leg stretches can be done for those who wish.

Taking a short ride to get warmed up for the 6pm Rolller Coaster...it's hilly but will be taking it easy to enjoy views down around Stony Brook Harbor and around the pond. Please arrive in time to leave promptly at 4:45pm so we can be back for the 6pm ride.
Leave the Manorville King Kullen for a training ride on the Grumman Loop, where we'll do three or four laps. Group rides together to the Loop for a warmup and back to the start for a cool down. We can always throw in a couple of sprints to make it interesting...
Not really changed but, it was the best word on the list. Tomorrow is expected to be very hi temps and humid. The ride lives - dinner also! But, we'll be prudent as we ride and see just how things go. So, be prepared for a somewhat lighter ride.
Scenic backroads ride thru the Smithtown-Stonybrook area: historic places, great views, great sunsets, great folks. We are a diverse group out for an good ride and fun nite. Dinner apres ride.
Due to the high temps, we'll start a little earlier and keep the pace down. There's a lot of shade on this ride, so don't let the temps keep you from riding.
Another trek to Bean & Bagel. This is a C+/B- pace. We'll aim to come in at high 13 or low 14 average. This is a relatively flat ride, on the bike path for a ways. Rest stop at Bean & Bagel.
Today’s Mi Tierrita ride will be going to Smith’s Point. The route is mostly flat with a small incline here and there and of course the Woodside bigger incline. The average pace for the ride will be between 14.8 to 15.0 mph, +/- depending on the roads, wind direction, and other conditions which could put the ride in the lower part of a "B". The road speed will be between 15 and 17 mph. We'll stop along the way for a pee break. Bring a snack for the beach stop. There are a few places along the route where leg stretches can be be done for those who wish. PARKING: Use the area of the parking lot on the SOUTH side.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:30AM, if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about the ride or need directions to the start
Since the owner of the jewelry store doesn't want us to us the KK lot, park on the street one block north of the KK at the intersection of Eastport Manor Road and Old Montauk Highway (traffic light) on the road shoulder (double wide) behind the tavern. Honest pace as advertised. Dishonest riders, post your own ride. Pit stop at Cupsogue beach.Bring snacks or get lobster at"The Beach Hut". Return inland. Paceline 19-22 mph as conditions permit. (slower with a headwind, faster with a tailwind) Avg 17.5 or so.
Come out and join me for a ride from Bellport to the Beach. We will make a stop at the 7-11 on William Floyd Pkwy. for a snack if you want to bring one to our break at the beach. This is a strong C+ ride, which will average 12.5 - 13.0, depending on the wind and the riders. There will be cue sheets and no one gets left behind.
Group rides/warms up together to the old Grumman site. Paceline 4 or 5 laps around facility. Faster riders go ahead and lap us later. Slower riders don't need to pull or can go slower. We'll get you on the next lap. Can stop if needed. Easy way to try a new pace or those paceline skills Ron taught you with out the commitment of a full ride. We will regroup and ride/cool down back to Manorville. Bring whatever water or snack you need since there are no places to get any.
Changes start time 9am Easy ride through the Pine Barrens to Wildwood State Park, we will stop at Deli just before park to pick up snacks to be eaten in park, pace will be adjusted to the winds and who shows up not to exceed C+ average speed, no one left behind, ever I hope.
This is a beautiful ride to Shoreham, where we will take a break overlooking the sound. Route is mostly flat, with a few rollers on Whiskey Rd. There is no place to buy snacks or water, so come prepared with both. We will keep a steady pace, no one will be dropped. You won't be disappointed with this ride, guarenteed. Any changes or cancellations will be posted by 7:30 AM.
