To Sag Harbor, ferry to Shelter Island, across Shelter Island, ferry to Greenport, Back to Manorville.
Posted as a B+/A, the pace will be a fast B+ into the low end of a B+/A. Stops will be few, just for bathroom and to top off water bottles and maybe one short break if the group wants, probably at the deli in Greenport after the ferry. Don't forget to bring money for the ferry.
This is an unsupported ride. http://ridewithgps.com/routes/5508058
Leave the Manorville King Kullen to ride with the John Shea group of the Early Birds. I believe it is the North Route this week. While an unstructured paceline ride, we'll try to the group together and work as a team.
It's time for pie! This is a beautiful scenic ride to Briermere farms where we will take a break and enjoy something from the bakery here. This ride has it all, rolling hills, buffalo, farms, are we really on Long Island! Park in the KK parking lot close to Chapman.
Truly a beautiful route.
I am posting this ride again for those who may have missed last week's ride because of the iffy weather in the AM. Food/rest stop will be at Briermere around mile 20. Pace will be around 15.0. Cancellation for any reason will be posted no later than 7AM.
Last week's ride was canceled, so we will try this again in reverse with some variation. Let's see if the hills are more challenging in the opposite direction. Riders will be expected to ride single file. Break at Wildwood State Park.
I plan to do Tim's long ride Saturday, so this will be more of a recovery ride, likely to be on the lower end of the range, possibly mid B. No surprises here, straightforward usual route with the stop at the deli before the beach. Group will stay together, with a couple go-aheads.
Corampine mall to Osprey park. We can stop at TJs hero shop before we get to the park for snacks. The park is on the Forge river with bathrooms and a nice pier out into the water. I will try to keep the speed between 13.5-15. No one left behind. Any questions please call my cell.
I tend to be long winded so click "read more" on the bottom for the entire post. – The route will be the same as last Sunday with a slightly different start and end. We’ll go the through Connetquot Park, then down to Heckscher Park where one can stretch the legs a bit by doing one loop. This is not a pace line. Around mile 14 there will be a rest stop and a bathroom break. This route is mostly flat with shade and 4 little hills. This ride will come in with an average between 14.8 & 15.0 mph; depending on the wind it could come in a tad higher. The road speed on this ride will be between 15 and 17mph.
We’ll be making a food/rest stop near the end of the ride around mile 30. While at this stop you can have self serve ice-cream, fat free yogurt, gelato, or a sandwich and coffee before going just 2 more miles back to the start. Back at the start if you bring supplies and a chair (optional) we can have a repair clinic; or not.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:30AM if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride or need directions to the start.
We're off to Briermere following Gordon's route in reverse with a couple of modifications. Leader maintain a 13-15 mph level ground cruising speed. No one will be dropped.
Going to East Islip with a stop at Timber Point Golf Club for a snack. NOBODY LEFT BEHIND. Special care taken for newbies. Any cancellation by 8:30AM. Average pace should be 11-12.5MPH.
