October is the last month to ride Rocky Point trails before they close for hunting season until APRIL 2019!! So grease up your fat tire bikes, fill your camelbacks and come out for a fun ride. I plan to do the main trail which is approximately 13 miles. The group can decide if we will start with West Side loop of 4 miles to add on or do a couple of easy diamonds. As this is my first mountain bike ride this season, i won't be doing the majority of diamonds. This will be a warming back up to the trails ride. Pace will be moderate intermediate, no speed demons.
Bring snacks & plenty of fluids and plan to have fun. Bug (tick) spray is probably a good idea. While they are still active, i have not heard complaints of ticks from any of the folks i have spoken to about riding these trails over the summer.
This is DEC property so be sure to bring and display your permits.
**meet at parking area on Rocky Point Road just north of Whiskey Rd**
Steady pace rideline ride where we rotate to the back after a pull. Most of us want to ride 3 days so we will restrain ourselvese on this ride with that in mind. Please note tat I will be taking River Road back instead of Conn. and Mill.
Please check the rooute before you arrive. Rest stop at the #1 rated rst stop...Exxon Gas Station.
We are preceeding the MAN Ronald Goodstat! Keeping the pace a true B+. Ron is doing the B+A pace. I'm doing a differerent route. We will hit the beach and incorporate a bit of my Sassafrass roads. Cheers at the end! My cell 631 922-0632
This will be a different start point and route that I normally do for Rons Octoberfest ride. We should be back by 11:30 and will have plenty of time to drive over and join everyone at the Brewery if you want to go. There is a deli accross the street if you want to grab a sandwich or you can bring your own snacks/or food. Sometimes there is a food truck but last time we got there they had not opened yet so i would not count on that if you want to eat.
We'll be joining the other groups leaving Shorefront Park in Patchogue, since the new brewery may not be open yet, and then going to the brewary after the ride. Come for the ride and/or come for the social aspect of the club (no drinking required). Bring a change of clothes for after the ride and munchies will be also be most appreciated.
If we go to the old brewery location, there may be a food truck available and there is a deli across the street. If it is the new brewery, they will most likely have food there.
Any food and/or brew costs are at personal expense.
This ride will most likely be going to the Holbrook/Holtsville area for break, so bring a snack and drink for the quick stop. We will see a "beach" either in Sayville or Bellport.
Check out the other ride posts for additional details.
It's off to Manorville. The average pace for the ride will be between 14.6 to 15.0 mph +/- depending on the roads, wind direction, rider ability or other conditions. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -16.5 mph.) to produce the average. A rest/ food stop at McDonald’s or the bagel shop is on the schedule around mile 16. There are a few places along the route where leg stretches can be done for those who wish to do so. There is no obligation for anyone to do this; you can hang back with me.

Today’s route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride, if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. This morning it might be nice to take a ride through Bellport and Patchogue stopping for a break at Mickey D’s around mile 20. This is the last Tuesday night ride of the season, it may resume again beginning in the spring. Usual route around the East Islip and Islip area with a loop of the bike path in Heckscher Park. Lights recommended since there is a chance we may finish up after sundown. Cancellation for any reason will be posted by 2PM.
NOT MY USUAL B RIDE. This is a Moderate B/B+ PACE LINE. I aim to do the whole length of Dune Road, HOWEVER, we will MODIFY the distance on Dune Road if the wind speeds are too high. The break will be at the Beach Bakery in West Hampton or Tully's in Hampton Bays. The wind direction that day will dictate whether we go east or west on Dune Rd.
Off to Briermere's, with a quick stop to see the Bison, if they are out. If you want to share a pie, and if there are enough riders interested in sharing, bring singles and change. Note: the ride to Briermere's is very exposed to wind, if the winds are unfavorable, start of ride, ride speed and destination may change. As winter approaches, it becomes more important to check the ride calendar for changes, which would be posted by 07:45am day of ride. For info: contact Bill G. at 631-356-3036.
Join me for this C+ ride from Sayville to Patchogue. We will take a few loops and go to the ferry dock in Patchogue for a bathroom break and then a deli for a snack.
This is a structured ride which will average 12.5 - 12.9, depending on wind, riders, etc. There will be cue sheets and no one will be dropped.
NOTE: Park on the South Side of the train station, across the street.
Delayed start as waiting for the Trick or Treats to arrive .... This will be the last day that Rocky will be open this year... so don't miss this adventure! This ride is for intermediate riders but if you're a beginner and come by we'll adjust the speed. I'd like to do all that Rocky has to offer but remember there are wait locations near each diamond. Some of the single diamonds are basically just moguls which many advanced begineers can handle. No one will be pushed to do anyting above what they think they can handle. At the previous ride at RP we had riders of multiple levels and we all finished together and enjoyed this jewel of a Mtn Bike trail ... THANKS CLIMB!!
Check back to this posting on Tuesday evening after 9 PM and before leaving for the ride as Life Happens and Things Change.
