I have made 2 routes for this ride; we’ll be using the one that is appropriate for the wind direction on ride day. We’ll be going to; it’s a surprise since I don’t know which route will be used - - but you will like either one. The average pace for the ride will be between 14.0 to 15.0 mph, give or take depending on the wind direction and road conditions. The road speed will be between 15 and 17 mph. We'll stop along the way for coffee and a pee break. As usual there will be a spot or two where one can stretch the legs if desired. PARKING: Use the area of the parking lot on the WEST side.
My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride or need directions to the start. Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 8:00AM if necessary.

Park in the King Kullen lot in the area closest to Montauk Highway. Average speed will be 13.5-14mph, depending upon road and weather conditions, and rider ability. We will ride into Westhampton, than put some mileage on along dune road. If the Park Lane bridge is open, we will ride thru Quogue, than take a break at the Beach Bakery. From the bakery its about 6-7 miles back to the parking lot. For information, contact Bill Gravitz at 631-356-3036. Any changes will be posted the day of the ride by 07:30am.
Let's try and ride the ride that I've been trying to lead for the last 2 1/2 weeks.
Get re-acquainted with Whiskey Road.
No one gets dropped.
Hope to see you there.
This will be a B+, ride with a wait up at the top of Mill Road rise around the 12 mile mark.
This ride will be pace line, the cruising speed will be around 20-21mph due to the flat nature of the route.
Any solid B riders are welcome to come along, its early in the season so the ride will not go beyond B+
and its much easier to to ride faster as an organized group. This would be a good time to get into pace line rides.
As the season progresses the ride will get faster.
No one will be left behind. http://ridewithgps.com/routes/4341138

Need a bit more time to determine weather and wind. Check back by 7:30 for any changes.
Ok, now we're movin! Lets shake off the bad weather and get serious. We will start adding on the miles now and maybe picking up the pace (group to decide on pace). We will head to Smith Point using the route we did to Bellport and then down to the park. We can pick up a snack at the 7-11 or Deli and bring it down to the beach. I will check out the roads before hand and pray they look good, otherwise may need to reroute to make the miles. I look forward to seeing everyone. There will NOT be a ride on Sunday if weather doesn't cooperate on Saturday. Contact me if you have any questions.
Meet at the southwest corner of the parking lot. Food/rest stop at the deli in Bellport. The long-range forecast for Saturday is for AM rain but since people may have plans for Easter Sunday I want to try to get this ride in on Saturday if at all possible. If weather is an issue I will delay the start time on Saturday to as late at 1:00PM if necessary, otherwise I will reschedule for Sunday. Check back later in the week for any updates to this posting.
"EASY" Short B+ ride.. WE will stay around 18 average..
Saving the legs for the 42 miler tomorrow.
Riders looking to move up to a B+ this is a good ride for you...
NO ONE GETS Dropped!!
ALL B+ riders welcome so we might split into 2 groups...
Leave the Manorville King Kullen for our first spin out to Briermere Farms. Let's hope the Easter Bunny brings us a sunny day. To avoid the winds, we'll use the southern return route.
We'll keep a group together, so that no one has to ride alone.
***UPDATE – 4/4/2015 – 7:25AM. CANCELED, several weather sites predict winds of 19 – 29 mph with gusts as high as 40 mph. I really don’t want to ride in this; there will be better days coming soon.***
It’s off to Manorville, hopefully it wont rain again this weekend. The average pace for the ride will be between 14.0 to 15.0 mph; perhaps a tad higher or lower depending on the road condition, wind direction and other conditions. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -17 mph.) to produce the average. A rest/ food stop at McDonald’s or the bagel shop is on the schedule around mile 12. There will be some leg stretches along the way for those who feel the need.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 8:00AM if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about the ride or need directions to the start.
This is a ride to just to get on the bike and do an easy ride to Bellport. It a holiday for some so I did not want to take the entire day up with a bike ride. We will stop in Bellport for a quick break so bring a snack or you can go to the Deli before we head down to the water. For anyone who has not gone to the Sayville start it is the parking lot on the South side of the train tracks. If it rains I will try to delay the ride start but if it gets to late I will have to cancel the ride.
Refreshments / Coffee stop at Jamesport Duffys Deli, brief stop/reassembly as needed at IPBP and other key locations. [/][/b]
as marked -- good B+ riders are welcome to give it a try! Promise no one getting dropped or lost -- waiting up at key points as necessary.
Looking for a good base level A (but up to A+, AA at times possible with wait-ups as needed) pace. No one is getting dropped.
In general I want to see this smooth super efficient team effort to optimize time!!!
Third B+ training ride of the season.
Visiting Area 51 today for just a bit.. then up 111 for a short stop at Manorville McDonalds
All B+ riders welcome...we will break into 2 groups as I intend on staying close to the 18mph average.
Park in King Kullen lot closest to Montauk Highway. The ride will travel thru Eastport, Remsenberg, and
Westhampton, than do a stretch on Dune Road of about seven miles, before exiting into Quogue and than stop at the Beach Bakery for a snack and rest room stop. From the bakery it is about 6 miles back to our cars. Average speed will be about 13.5 to 14mph, depending upon wind, road conditions and rider ability. For information contact Bill Gravitz at 631-356-3036. Check the website for any changes, which will be posted by 07:30am day of ride.
NOTE: If the roads in this area have not improved I will change the ride and start location. --- How about taking a ride to Great River today? We will go the usual route through Connetquot Park and then do a loop in Heckscher Park where one can stretch the legs a bit. The route is mostly flat with 2 little hills; maybe 3. The average pace for this ride will be between 14.0 & 15.0 mph, depending on the wind and other factors. The road speed will be 15-17 mph to produce the average. We will be making a deli/rest stop somewhere between miles 18 and 20.
My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride or need directions to the start. Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 8:00AM if necessary.
I know that is a Holiday but I am posting a ride just in case the weather is nice and if you are available you are welcome to join. This is the usual ride out to Manorville. Pace will be the mid to high end of a B pace. If multiple levels show up the ride will be split with the faster riders going out ahead.
I'm still trying to get the legs in shape for this year. So we will keep this ride at a moderate B pace...between 14.5-15.0 mph depending on the wind. We will take a break at the Bellport docks. Bring snacks or $ for the Bellport deli. No one gets dropped.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE ECO CENTER IS CLOSED FOR EASTER. THEREFORE THE RIDE START HAS BEEN CHANGED TO THE HOLBROOK COUNTRY CLUB LOCATED AT 700 PATCHOGUE-HOLBROOK RD
Still trying to do a ride from Eastport to Quogue, but the weather hasn't been cooperating, big surprise. Rest stop will be at the Beach Bakery. It will have an average B- pace between 14 to 14.7 mph depending on weather conditions. No one will be dropped. Check the ride calendar for any weather or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 8:00 AM if necessary. My cell number is (631) 804-0751.
This ride will be at a tad slower pace than usual to give those who are just starting after the long, breezy winter a chance to get out there. It will be a simple out and back using Woodside and Southaven Avenues depending on the wind. The average pace will be between 13.5 and 14.0 mph. depending on the wind and other factors. Road speed will be between 14 & 16 mph. Bring a snack if you like since we will only be taking a short rest stop.
If the wind is over 20mph the ride will be cancelled. Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 12 noon if necessary. My cell phone# is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride or need directions to the start.
Easy pace out to Manorville. Pace line where at times. Option to ride with Glen going out or coming back to learn to prove your pace worry-free. Changes up by 6:30am 5166721564
9 am and it's just gotten wetter -- but let's see in an hour.
I'll be at ride start and we'll decide then.
As of 7:30 this morning, I'll be at ride start. There will be scattered rain, but hopefully not from 10 to noon. Check back at 9 in case weather takes a nosedive.
Hills 101, a great way to get your hill muscles moving as we do this ride weekly for half the year. Start with us now, if you've never done this ride before, as we improve weekly.
We will be cruising at a C+ pace, faster on downhills and when the wind is behind us.
The route is from Marshalls to the Old Field lighthouse, slightly different from last year to avoid choppy roads. There is a snack break (bring something along) but no bathroom. There will be places for strong climbers to push ahead of the pack, but we will wait up as needed for riders having early season hill issues. That is what this ride is about.
Any cancellation will be posted by 9AM. My cell, day of ride only, is 631-835-1454.
We are trying to get century training in if possible. This is a mostly flat ride with some rolling to kickstart training. We'll have a rest stop at 15 and at 30 miles at a bagel shop. CHECK BACK TUESDAY EVENING AS WEATHER MAY FORCE A CHANGE TO THURSDAY MORNING.
We should average 13mph, maybe a little more. Email me at this post with any questions. My cell day of ride only please is 631-835-1454.

Depending on the wind we may do a few loops of the bike path in Heckscher Park or a short ride around East Islip and Islip. Cancellation for any reason will be posted no later than 4PM on Wednesday.
*** SORRY THE RIDE IS CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER *** It is presently cold and raw with a drizzle coming down, not a great day for cycling. So the ride is canceled. Leave the Manorville King Kullen for an easy spin down to Smith Point. We'll ride in a paceline, but we will keep the group together. Short stop at the Beach. We can stop at the 7-Eleven on William Floyd, if you need Gatorade, etc. This will be a *** non-competitive ride ***, so get out your bike and ride. Allons-y!
Leave the Holtsville Ecology Site for some more B+ Century training fun. We'll, (gulp!), up the distance to 48 miles this time. We'll head out to the Manorville bagel shop, with a visit to Mill Road along the way.
I plan on keeping a true B+ pace, without any hard accelerations. Those that want to ride faster are welcome to get off the front, but I want to do the distance, so I won't be doing any chasing.
Take 2 on this training ride. We did not do this course last week due to the wind and headed into the other direction. We will head down to Smith Point Park and hopefully enjoy a few rays of sun. The past few training rides we have been coming in at an average of 12.5. If the wind cooperates we will try to bump this up a notch but we will gauge the group before. We will pick up the pace during the straights 14 - 16 mph (cruising speed). We can grab a snack or lunch from the deli or 7-11 and then head to the beach. Fingers crossed for a good day.
Please check back by 7 am for any changes or cancellations due to possible weather issues. Any questions please feel free to call or text my cell.

This is Transportation Alternatives Tour of Staten Island. Here's how they describe it: "The 55 miler - Ride through a multitude of neighborhoods in Staten Island. Ride with your buddies on the 35-mile route until the first rest stop at Freshkills Park. After the rest stop in Freshkills Park, the 55-mile ride continues through Heartland Village, New Springville and Lighthouse Hill before reaching the Historic Richmond Town rest stop. Pedal through Great Kills and Rossville before circling back around along the eastern shore, for a third rest stop -- and beautiful ocean vistas -- at Great Kills Park. Continue along the waterfront to take in the striking views of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge and New York Harbor before arriving at the Finish." We add a few extra city-street miles from/to a convenient parking lot close to the Verrazano Bridge. Beyond that.... I know nothing about Staten Island... other than I hear it's hilly. You must sign up for the ride. $45 non-members / $35.00 T.A. members. After our delicious snack it's back to the ecology center. We are running out of training weeks so hopefully you are out on the bike or trainer during the week to keep the legs moving. This will be a B+ ride with a wait up at the top of the 3 short climbs, for me at least....
This ride will be pace line, the cruising speed will be around 20-21mph due to the flat nature of the route.
Any solid B/B+ riders are welcome to come along, its early in the season so the ride will not be too fast.
No one will be left behind and it will be a structured ride going at the slowest riders pace keeping to an 18 average. http://ridewithgps.com/routes/4341138
It's that time of the year again for Kevin's Annual Spring Century. It will be the same great ride as year's past, starting at 8am from the KK/CVS parking lot in Wading River. Here's the route link - http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2324043 This route serves as a guide. There could be little changes that as a group we decide without altering the mileage. The pace is going to be quick, strong but steady, so all riders must be self sufficient! Food, hydration, tubes, etc!
Scenic ride thru StrongsNeck>Litehouse>West Meadow>StonyBrook. Definitely a challenge because of the hills.... but worth the effort. Plus, its fun... additional mileage depends on group and weather.
An easy paced ride to stretch the legs before Saturdays big rides. No one left behind. Park behind The stores in the northwest corner. We will go out to Manorville and back.
UPDATE: 4/25/15 - CHANGE OF START LOCATION
Center Moriches Waldbaums, 812 Main St., Center Moriches, NY 11934
Meet at the southeast part of the parking lot by the train tracks.
Looks like it's going to be a bit windy on Saturday so as we have been doing this season, we will need to head into the wind so we are not struggling all the way home. Although going east has longer stretches of road, we will head west into the wind. We will be on familiar roads and we will have plenty of opportunities to stop for the bathroom and food. Look forward to seeing everyone.
***READ THIS POST AND CHECK BACK ON FRIDAY!!!*****
So I put the order in for the weather to be just like last Saturday (I can only ask people)! Please keep an eye on this post because I am still working on the route and watching the winds. There may be a change to the start location which I will post by Friday morning. We had great speed last week and we are now cooking at a B- pace but it's the miles we want. This will be our longest training ride. We will be rolling out at 8 am SHARP! If the weather turns for some reason I WILL be moving this ride to Sunday. Remember I will not be running a training ride on 5/2 or 5/3 so see if you can join a ride at our current pace but not crazy miles. At this point you do not want to add anything new to your diet or bike clothing. Stick to know what you are comfortable in.
Just as a quick note, the day of the Century, leaving out of Babylon, I would like to be on the road by 7 am which means you should be in Babylon by 6:15 to check in and get yourself together (if you are parking remember to bring the $5 in quarters). There will be a luggage truck that will bring out your SMALL bag with a change of clothes to Montauk. Be sure to put your name on your bag!!! You should have ID, cash, medical card and credit card. Bring snacks (there will be snacks at Babylon also) and be sure to have full water bottles.
Please feel free to contact me on my cell if you have any questions. I ask for everyone's help in supporting my prayers for good weather.
Can we catch a break at all? In light of the freeze warning we are having Friday night I am delaying the start time to 9:00. Dress warm! I really thought these days were over.
Well lets give it a try and go for the 65 miles today. Please arrive early so we can leave at 8:15 sharp. We will have rest stops one for lunch and one for a quick break to refuel and do what we have to do. If by chance it rains the day of this ride I am not able to reschedule for tomorrow. In the event this happens try to go on a different ride to get miles in. Lets hope for another beautiful day in the 70's!
*** Changing ride start to 9 am, this is not supposed to be a winter ride! ***
This is an extended North Fork Tour, rolling through the Pine Barrens and Riverhead, then out east to Mattituck and Cutchogue.
Along the way we'll stop at Iron Pier Beach, Mattituck Breakwater Beach and New Suffolk Beach.
Lunch will be in Cutchogue at the deli.
Pace will be an easy "B", we should average right around 15 mph.
Please be ready to roll at 9:AM - and try to remember your club ID# for the sign-in sheet.
Meet at the Monorville King Kullen: Take LIE to Exit 70, make right, shopping center is 1/2 mile south on the right, enter through McDonalds, or make a right onto Chapman.
Any updates or changes will be posted by 7 am the morning of the ride.
Let's Ease on Down the Road. Go out to Cutchogue with a quick stop at Briermere. This is again a no pressure ride. We'll try to average 13.5 to 14. Route, distance and speed subject to change depending on the wind. my cell 646-643-6856.
This week we'll head out from Holtsville to Briermere, with a return through Area 51 and Manorville. Along the way we'll visit a couple of Mill Roads. The ride will be about 75 miles, with an option to ride to the end of Route 51 for an additional 6 miles.
While this ride is unstructured, we'll try to keep a group together, as no one likes to ride alone. Faster riders are free to form a group off the front, but we won't go looking for you if you go off course.
We will leave at 9:00 am in search of Bobby, since he hasn't posted anything for Saturday rumors are he is out looking for new routes with Christine.
All kidding aside we will ride to either Smithspoint Beach or Manorville. If someone is totally familiar with the route to Manorville than we will head that way, I am not totally 100% familiar with the route to Manorville but I can definitely handle the route to Smithspoint. We will decide at SSM the final destination. We will average between 14.5-15mph and of course there will be a break mid-way.
Mileage may vary 3-4 miles depending on what route we choose.
Leaving at 2:40 so the wind dies down and the temps are more reasonable. Nice flat 20 miles heading to Cory Beach and Patchogue, so put down the remote, get your ass off the couch and come on out. Park in the lot on the south side of RR (across the street). NOBODY LEFT BEHIND. Any cancellation by 1:30PM. Newbies always welcome. Ride should come in at 10-11.5MPH, depending on wind, tide and riders ability. As always check website for any cancellations due to weather or any other complications the ride leader may occur. WHEELS DOWN AT 2:40 SHARP!
If you are a Marshal or you have signed up, come join me for the Cops Who Care Ride. We'll ride there do the 50 mile hill ride and ride back to Rocky Point. Call if you have questions.
Starting in Selden, we'll ride down 11 miles to Rich's Sayville to Babylon ride of 40 miles (also a B/B+) which starts at 9 AM. With the return trip the distance will be 62 miles. If you're planning to do the RR Century and haven't done more than 50 miles in one day then come along for this "training ride". Only two more weekends until the Century. Check back to this posting on Saturday night as things in life tend to change.
More miles to train for the Century which will be in two weeks. This is just about the straightest route I could make from Sayville to Westhampton. No extra loops on this route. We will be on Middle Road, South Country Road, Victory, Montauk Highway, Frowein and South Country Road in Remsenburg. Lunch stop at the Westhampton Beach Bakery. Easy B- pace. No one gets dropped. We should come in at 14 mph average if there is not too much wind. High cruising speed will be 16 to 17 mph.
Route still TBD but it will probably include 2 short snack/rest stops, one in Manorville and the other at the Beach Bakery in Westhampton Beach. We'll try to finish in the middle of the B- range ( 14.5 ), subject as always to the wind direction and speed. Please do not attempt this ride if you haven't completed at least 1 or 2 rides of 40+ miles this season. If the forecast for Sunday changes between now and Friday the ride may be moved up to Saturday, be sure to check the Ride Calendar later in the week for any updates.
