Come join me for a scenic visit to Shelter Island, we'll take the North and South ferry so bring some dollars for that and rest stop snacks. Route posted below, hope you can join. NOTE: EACH FERRY IS $4. THEY WOULD LIKE EXACT CHANGE OR AT LEAST "SMALL BILLS".
Going to Great River. I would like to come in between 14.8 and 14.9 mph +/- a tad. In order to get this average we will be doing road speeds between 15.0 and 17.0 mph. Expect down hills and wind at your back to be faster. We will take a break at the bagel shop about mile 14. Things could change slightly due to road conditions and wind direction.Pulling is always appreciated. There will be GOOD STUFF after the ride
If you have any questions, or concerns please text me at 631.484.3490. Should there be a cancelation or change it will be posted by 7:15am.
Roosevelt Island Astoria Park RFK Bridge Randall-Ward’s Island 1/2 loop in Central Park Hudson River Bike Path Brooklyn Bridge Brooklyn Piers Manhattan Bridge Williamsburg Bridge Pulaski Bridge Gantry State Park
The route is about 35 miles with about 900 ft of elevation. A 35 mile city ride with stops for sightseeing and photos can be a longer day than you might expect. I hope to be back at the cars by 3pm. Here's a link to the route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/44311649
Bring snacks and gels. Bagel Shop stop at around Mile 23.
Obviously… not your typical "club ride". I'm very selective about the roads/paths I choose. Many will have a designated bike lane. A few will not. If you have a fear of heights, the RFK Bridge could be a real challenge. You can walk. We'll wait. The other bridges are much less concerning. You will need to carry your bike up and down a few stairs here and there.
This is a B+ ride ... not so much for the speed, but for the hills (+ bridges) and general confident bike handling skills required to navigate a variety of advanced cycling situations. This is also an RSVP ride. Contact me (text) in advance if you plan to come. Provide me with your SBRA Member # and I'll sign you in. The ride will be a "go" even if only one other rider is interested.
Please note the new ride-start location for this year. If you need an address for your GPS, then use 42-25 Vernon Blvd, Queens, NY 11101
I'll subbling for Howard. Today's route to Great River. We will go the usual route. Rest stop are approximately half way. Max cruising 17 to 19 mph and come in at an average 16

A scenic ride out to Cutchogue, with numerous water views, as well as views of vineyards and farms. This will be an easy C+ ride, with stops so we can eat our snacks, drink our water and catch our breath so we can complete the ride. There will be a lunch stop in Cutchogue, where you can purchase bagels or seafood (both restaurants are in the same parking lot, outdoor picnic tables are available. This ride includes Nassau Point, which has several hills. The hills end at the water, so if you don't wish to do the hills, you can hang out at the local beach and on the way back from the hilly ride, we will stop and you will rejoin the ride. On our return, we can stop at the Magic Fountain for their fantastic ice cream. There are rest rooms along the way, but none in the lot of the Senior Center. Note: strong winds could result in ride changes or cancellation, so be sure to check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 07:30am. To join this ride, text Bill G. at 631-356-3036 with your full name and date of ride. This is a long ride, so plan your day accordingly.
