I'm not sure who posted this route to the SBRA RWGPS account but it looks like a good one! We'll ride a steady pace with 1 minuite pulls and whatever A/S we wind up with is good by me. We work to keep the group together, with waitups as necessary.
This week we will head out to the country to Briermere Farms. We'll follow a flat to lightly rolling route to get there. Along the way there will be plenty of opportunities to paceline, before our stop at Briermere at 21 miles.
The return will take us through Riverhead and to the River Road.
I’m taking this ride down a notch and adhering the posted “A” pace average speed of 20 to 21 mph, not 22+.I hope to see anyone who plans on riding the posted parameters.
Off to Nettie's Bakery with its outdoor eating area and indoor bathrooms. If you are interested in joining this ride, just text me (631-356-3036) your full name and ride destination, the rest of the info will be filled out in the parking lot. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 07:15am.
We will be leaving Oakdale RR and head to Bellport and returning to Oakdale for a 32 mile ride. Our food/restroom break will be around mile 15 in Bellport. The ride will be at a (B - pace) with an average speed of around 15 mphand road speeds that will reach 16 to 19 mph.
If you have any questions text or call Mike 516 448-8545. Changes or cancelation will be posted by 7:30am day of ride.
This will be a lower B class ride then past rides I am hoping to average around 15.5 mph. This ride will be less hilly then past rides, we will not be going up Weeks (One big long Hill) but there will still be a couple of other smaller and shorter hills. We will be trying out either Wendy's or Dunkin Donuts for our rest stop instead of McDonalds. Sorry I just wasn't feeling the love at McDonalds.
Note I truly appreciate assistance in pulling, but if you are unconfortable then please just stay to the back. Pulling is not a requirement but it is appreciated.
Please check ride calendar morning of ride for cancellation incase something unexpected should occur cancellations will post by 7am.
Park in the south overflow lot for an easy ride to Bellport where we can get a snack and eat at the water. Check back for any changes which would be posted by 7 am.
This 23-28 mile ride will come in at 12-13mph depending on wind, tide and ride leaders disposition. Restroom 1/2 way through with requested water breaks. Newbies always welcome and well taken care of and no one gets left behind. Any cancellation will be by 7:30am. Destination depends on "winds of the day".
No need to text me, but be there 15-20 minutes ahead of time as I have been known to depart 5 minutes early!
Join me for this scenic C- ride, cruising speed will be 10-11, slower in the mews. No one gets dropped.
We will ride around the scenic roads of Oakdale, a unique community steeped in Vanderbilt History.Shortly after crossing a wooden footbridge, we'll be taking our break on the riverside steps of Idle Hour, the former William K. Vanderbilt Estate. Unfortunately, it is the now defunct Dowling College and falling into disrepair. Continuing with the theme of Vanderbilt history we will be heading into the mews, also once part of the Vanderbilt Estate. The mews is such a fascinating pocket of History & Architecture that we will be sure to ride each and every road. Please bring water, spare tube, and a snack if you wish, to enjoy riverside. There will be a bathroom stop.
Please always check back here for any changes before leaving for the ride
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start so we get rolling on time.
I'm limiting the number of riders, Please text me with your Name, SBRA Member Number & Emergency Contact Number. I will return your text confirming your spot on the ride, or that its full.
