Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.

Plan to arrive a little early as the lot will fill fast this weekend; If the lot is filled when you get there ... drive down to Whiskey Road, head west and park at the small lot at the end of the field or on the north shoulder ... avoid parking in the community on the south side of Whiskey Road.
You need a DEC Access/Parking pass to ride in Rocky. To my knowledge there was not much checking last year but the early part of the season is more likely to be when they check your front windshield for parking.
As usual I'll be the Ride Organizer and not the lead rider depending on who shows. I plan to skip the west side loop. Regardless of your ability you can always hang with me as I'm slower than lots of faster riders. We'll skip some of the Black Diamonds. SBRA insurance requires that Mtn Bike riders MUST sign a Ride Sign In sheet for each Mtn Bike ride.
PLEASE text [631-988-6557]/email me at [nsamuels@ optonline.net] include your name, SBRA #, EMERGENCY # and your cell #. I will fill out the Ride Sign In sheet and you will only have to sign it.
Leaving the South Street School we will ride up through Wading River, hitting Fresh Pond Road, before riding through the old Grumman property on our way to Riverhead via Route 24. After a short break at the McDonald's, it's onward and upward through the Land of the Dimpled Ball. Then it's Pete's request, the Hill in Area 51! After a regroup we'll run down through Area 51 and eventually back to South Street.
So, save some energy for the second half of the ride where the hills come in. And we'll regroup after any difficult sections, so that everyone can ride with the group in the paceline.
park in the south lot of King Kullen for a mostly backroads ride to the Quogue Wildlife Refuge where there are bathrooms. Bring a snack. Anyone is welcome on this ride even if you don't plan to do the Metric Century in June. Please see my forum post about the Metric Century Training. Or text me with any questions.
We are doing this ride today because Thursday was cancelled. When you arrive Please use the South and East parking spots first. Leave the West spots for customers.Today's Mi Tierrita ride will be going to the marina. The route is mostly flat with a small incline here and there and of course there must be one little hill. The average pace for the ride will be between 14.0 to 14.8 +/- mph, depending on the roads and wind direction. There will be a break-a-way for those that want to go.
The road speed will be between 15 and 16 mph. If you want to go faster there are faster rides posted. As alway pulling is appreciated, but not required. We'll stop along the way for a bathroom break around mile 10. Don’t forget to bring a snack. Do you know what AGUAPANELA is? Come and find out.
Any cancellation due to weather or any other circumstance will be posted no later than 0745 if necessary. If you have questions about the ride just TEXT me at 631.484.3490. Eventually my phone and I will do a meet and greet in a reasonable amount of time...
The start date for the Beginner Century Training is Next week April 9th not today as originally posted. Any questions please email: (Century@SBRAweb.org).
Let's start getting out and riding again. This is a easy paced ride with a break at Netties. We'll stay together and have a good time. Don't forget to check the air in your tires.
Rocky Point is Open! Let's do the Time Warp again! We'll ride the Main Trail (not Westside Loop) and several of the single diamonds including all moguls, Dragon and a couple more. Pace will depend on the group. Around a C+/B-, intermediate. Bring water and snacks.
