UPDATE: Since the Jamesport Fireman's Carnival is going on we can not park in the municipal lot. We have special permission to park in the lot of the Jamesport Fire Department 25 Manor lane on the south end of Manor Lane near main road. We must park in the north west end of the lot to leave way for emergency vehicles, I will be there early to show you where.
This route will start at the Jamesport Municipal lot (near the Bisquit) and visit some senic waterways. We will see New Suffolk Beach, Nassau Point, Cedar Beach and then head up to Soundview and Oregon Road on our way back. We can stop at Cedar Beach for the restroom at mile 24 but bring hydration and something to eat as no food is available there. IMPORTANT: Download the route to your Garmin/Wahoo as we will be traveling some new roads with many turns. (Contact me if you are not sure how to do it.) I listed this ride as an A- because of 1250 feet of hills but otherwise let's enjoy the senic waterways we live near. Hope to see you there!
Be sure to bring water and sun screen as the weather is now getting hotter. For this Flat ride the Average speed is 11-12.5mph depending on riders, wind, tide, position of moon and leaders disposition. Nobody gets left behind and newbies always welcome and well taken care of. Any cancellation will be by before 7:30am. No need to text me.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start, to allow enough time for me to get everyone signed in and to "get yourself" ready.
Note: Park on Cove Street, just accross from the Senior Center. The Senior Center is open again and I don't want to take their parking spots. This ride takes us along the Peconic River, with several nice viewing spots. We than go up to the Long Island Sound, passing farms and vineyards along the way. On our return we stop at Scoops and Grinds for a sandwich, snacks or coffee, with a possible additional stop later at the Magic Fountain for Ice Cream. First bathroom stop is at mile seven, with a porta-potty and a real bathroom, which might be open. There are other porta-potty stops along the way, and a real bathroom at Scoops and Grinds, and Braun's Seafood. To join this ride, text Bill G. at 631-356-3036 with your SBRA, emergency and cell numbers, your full name and date of the ride. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 07:00.
