East Islip BoA to the famous Copenhagen bakery in Northport where we will have our food/rest stop. This ride is posted as a B/B+ due to effort required for the hills, however, average speed come in more like a "B" level ride. Consider this early season "hill trainiing" for intermediate level riders. We will cover the Vanderbilt rollers and hills in Northport, Fort Solonga/Kings Park and Smithtown.
No one gets dropped. Wait-up's at the top of each hill. Water breaks as needed.
This ride will begin at the Bellport Municipal lot, we're heading to the Dunkin Donuts in Oakdale, depending on the group and how we all feel, there's a possibility of adding an extra mile or two by doing some extra loops. Hopefully the weather will be warmer and it would be nice to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine so let's enjoy and not rush the pace. All I ask is that you're prepared to leave on time :) and join me for a relaxing morning ride.
As always, please check back on this post for weather related changes/cancellations.
Join me for this ride around Manorville and Calverton, with a good part on the bike path and the new extension back to the parking lot. If it is windy, this route will keep us on many roads that are not out in the open. We will take our break at Bean & Bagel, where you may snack and use the bathroom.
I am not using my road bike, so feel free to bring your hybrid or fat tire, if you have one. The ride will average 12 - 12.4, with cue sheets.
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride, if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. The average pace for this ride will be between 14.5 & 15.0 +/- mph, or what conditions allow. The road speed will be between 15 and 16.5 mph, or slower if needed for safety concerns.
We’ll be making a rest stop around mile 19 at the deli/bakery. The route back will be determined by the wind direction. Good Stuff after the Ride. Not sure what good stuff; it's always a surprise.
Any cancellations due to unforeseeable circumstances, or weather related problems will be posted by 8:00am. If you have any questions about this ride, or the start location, please call or text my cell, 631-484-3490.

This is a B ride with an average speed of 15.5 to 16 mph, road speeds may reach 17-19mph. Check the ride calender for any changes posted by 8:00am day of ride.
We will head out to Westhampton, with a bathroom stop at mile 9. Our ride will than go on Dune Rd., stopping for a couple of minutes to view the Atlantic Ocean, than head up to the Quogue Preserve for a brief bathroom stop/water break. Next stop is at the Westhampton Bakery, than back to the starting point. Optional-pizza or salad at the local pizza place in the lot where we are parked. Strong winds will slow our pace. For info: contact Bill G. at 631-356-3036. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 08:00am.
Change is move to Sunday because of wind forcast. Very easy ride for me to get back in shape to Bean & Bagel for Great Bagels on roads with very little traffic through the Pine Barrens and on some paved trails through the woods no one left behind. Please call my cell 631-484-1650 after 7am or before 8pm for any info check back day of for any changes which might be made 1.5 hours before ride if the weather is bad.
This will be a slow C and two (2) loops on the trail only. Im working on building my arm and hands. This is a great ride for new members and anyone just getting started for the season. We will break at Bean & Bagel just past the first loop.
I'm keeping the speed on the lower end of a B B+ pace. It's been 2 weeks since I've ridden & I would like to take it slow. My version of Bill's ride plus some. Heading north to River Rd., then back to Victoy. A quick rest stop at McDonald's if we need to. My cell 631 922-0632
