Steady paced ride to the tanks with a stop at Briermere. Century time is comming quickly and we need to build miles. Waitups if needed in the usual places.
This will be a hill ride at a B/B+ effort. Since this will be my first time in these hills for the year we will likely ride closer to 15 than 16 mph. The goal is to get stronger on hills for a fall Grand Fondo. We will be climbing 1770 feet over the 35 miles, Here is the Ride with GPS route https://ridewithgps.com/routes/27303748
Off to Briermere's, with a stop to view the American Bison if they are in the pasture nearest to the road. Briermere's has bathrooms and picnic tables, coffee (no tea) and a variety of goodies. If there are enough riders to share a pie, and you want to chip in for the pie, bring singles and change. For info: call Bill G. at 631-356-3036. Any changes will be posted by 07:20am, day of ride.
This ride is hills 101. We will do a low C+/B- on the flats and whatever we personally can do on the hills. Expect the flats to be cruising at 14/15 and the final average to come in at a low 13.
As the weeks go by, we improve to a B- average. Waitups on hills occur as a normal part of this ride. The only challenge is a personal one: do better than the last time.
Our break is at the Oldfield lighthouse. Be sure to bring your own snack. There is no bathroom stop. Cancellation for any reason will be by 8:00am
This will be a nice ride around the Holbrook area. The average pace for this ride will be between 13.0 & 14.0 mph; naturally the road speed will be higher to produce the average. We can all go for coffee and a bagel at the end of the ride and chat if you want.
Any cancellation due to weather or any other circumstance will be posted no later than 7:30am if necessary. If you have question about the ride or the start location please call or text me 631.484.3490…
Come out and join me for my first ride in 2018. I have a morning appointment, so we will be starting a little later today. A bonus to this is that the temperature will be very nice in the afternoon. This will be an easy and almost completely flat ride around St. James. We will stop for a break at St. James Bagels, and there will be cue sheets.
The ride will probably average at the upper end of a C pace, between 11.7 and 11.9.
Just getting on your bike this season? Then join me for a short, easy paced ride to Patchogue. Bring water and a snack if you wish. Park in the lot across from Kreb Cycle. Contact me via phone or text at the number below.
We will be leaving Bank of America and head to Great River and East Islip for a 19 mile ride. The ride will be at a B- pace with an average speed of around 14.5 to 15mph and road speeds that will reach 16 to 18mph.
Changes or cancelation will be posted by 1:30pm day of ride.
If you have any questions concerning this ride, call Mike at 516 448-8545.
Scenic ride through Stony Brook, Poquott, Strongs Neck, Old Field, West Meadow beach. Mix of flat, rolling, and a few nice climbs, especially at the end. We'll come in at the slower end of the pace ~ 13 avg. Wait ups on the hills. Single file riding, no one gets dropped.
We'll either ride west to Oakdale or east to Patchogue/Bellport. No food stop but we can take a short break along the route. Cancellation for any reason will be posted by 2PM.
