Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. Nice and easy ride to the deli near the docks. We will take our break there and have some breakfast. The ride back will take us around the lakes in Brightwaters.
Please remember to set your tic - toc AHEAD 1 hour. If not, you will be late for a very important date.
This morning it might be nice to take a ride through Bellport and Patchogue stopping for a break at Mickey D’s around mile 20. The average pace will be between 14.0 to 15.0 mph depending on the roads, wind direction, dew point, and other conditions. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -15.5 mph.) to produce the average; all things being dictated by the wind direction.
The route may change up a bit here and there depending on what Mother Nature does in the next few days. We haven’t had any good stuff lately, soooooooooooooo, there will be - Good Stuff After The Ride. Not sure what good stuff; it's always a surprise.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:45am if necessary. My cell phone number is 631-484-3490; call or text anytime if you have questions about this ride...
Flat out "the best route back to MRB". We cruise the tanks and sail on out to my summer home on Paradise Point. No scheduled stops but waitups in the usual places. When it's over it doesn't feel like 1/2 a century. This is an "A" ride; No requirement to wait for dropped riders, Bring a friend if you are concerned about having someone to ride with at a slower pace. Route is posted below.
Off to Wildwood State Park, with a deli stop just prior to the park (Bean and Bagel is too busy on Sundays to stop there). Wildwood has picnic tables and heated bathrooms. For info: contact Bill G. at 631-356-3036. Winter weather can effect the ride, so it is very important that you check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 08:15am.
We will be leaving East Islip BOA and head to the Great River / East Islip area and into Heckscher Park. Then we will make our way to the Islip Beach and stopping at McDonalds for our break.
This is a B- ride with an average speed of 14.5 to 15 mph, road speeds may reach 16-18mph. Check the ride calender for any changes posted by 7:00am day of the ride.
This will be a tuneup ride just to see what we've got. I haven't rode in over 4 months. Actually speed will be dependent on the group and the weather. We'll be meandering on mostly flat roads.
