Details (RL read field instructions carefully):

The Seagull Train 4 ride was scheduled for Sunday and moved to today since the weather and the wind look very bad for Sunday. I will post a shorter ride on Sunday just on the chance things change.

You DO NOT have to be doing the century to go on any of these rides. Each week the ride will increase by 5 miles or so. It would be helpful to me at this point in the training that we take some turns pulling, just a few; this way you can enjoy the wind in your face and be the first to smell the roses or the road kill.

For this Seagull training ride the route will be almost the same as the “Chowder/Dessert” ride with a few extra miles added. It’s a scenic ride through Eastport, Remsenburg, Westhampton Beach, and points east. The wind direction will determine the route to be taken. If we have a West wind we will use Dune Road (wind at our back) as part of the route; great for those leg stretches. If the wind doesn’t cooperate we will use an inland route which is just as nice.

The average pace for the ride will be between 14.5 to 15.0 mph, depending on the roads, wind direction, and the group. The road speed will be between 15 and 16.5 mph. Dune Road will be the break - a - way spot for those who wish to do so. You are not obligated to do this; you can hang back with me and do a nice steady pace. No one will be left behind.

We’ll make a rest/food stop at Tully’s for some great clam chowder or fishy stuff. If Tully’s is closed we can go to the Market.  Peddle a few more miles to the Beach Bakery for some sweet goodies or a bagel and then go back to the start.

Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:00 AM if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride or need directions to the start.
