Scenic century training ride to Shleter Island. Riverhead out to Greenport and then ferry to SI. We'll ride past those nice homes along Derring Harbor and hit the Ram Island hills before heading to Sag Harbor via the South Ferry. Tour through Bridgehampton, Watermill and Southampton before returning to Riverhead.
Stops approx every 20-25 miles or as needed. Bring sufficient hydration, food and $$ for ferry.
Pls call or txt if you have any questions (347-922-3824).
This will be between 40 and 45 miles depending upon the weather (ie. winds). I will have a GPS by Saturday, the group will wait for everyone, possible Nettie's on the route. Century and Metric Century riders are welcomed. Call or text if rain or wet roads to see if the ride has been canceled due to the website being in a read only mode. I will try to get the GPS posted before the ride.
A slow, low mileage ride for those who haven't been on their bike much (like me!) or are just starting to ride. Just a short meander around side streets then a short visit to Nettie's Bakery. Please text if you plan to join me otherwise I might just ride by myself around my house. Be sure your tires are inflated properly. Helmets are required. Check back here for any changes which would be posted by 7 am. Park in the lot behind Wendy's but not near the RR tracks.
This C+ ride of 18-25 miles will average 11.5-12.5mph. Bring snack/hydration as route depends on wind, tide, position of moon and ride leaders disposition. Newbies welcome and well taken care of and nobody gets left behind. Any cancellation will be by 8:30am. No need to text, email, phone, send message by carrier pidgeon or smoke signal me. Just show up 15-20 minutes before ride start to get your s**t together.
Join me for this C ride, which will average 11.2 - 11.7; no one gets dropped and we will be observing spacing rules, etc. Ride route will be determined by the road conditions; decision to be made the morning of the ride; no cue sheets. We will either head to Blue Point or to Oakdale for our break; there will be a bathroom stop.
The number of riders is limited, so if you want to ride, text me (631-523-2129) with your SBRA Member Number and Emergency Contact phone number. I will respond to your text and let you know if you have a spot on the ride. Once the ride is filled, I will change to post to indicate that.
