Standard Firehouse 44 with an Exxon break at mile 27. Return via 24, 51, 111; please download the route. This should be a smooth steady effort with short pulls and a keep the group together attitude.
For this Flat ride the Average speed is 11.5-12.5mph depending on riders, wind, tide, position of moon and leaders disposition with a distance of 18-23 miles. Nobody gets left behind and newbies always welcome and well taken care of. Any cancellation will be before 7:30am. No need to text me.
This will be a B- ride. Expect an average between 14.5-14.9 In order to get this average the road speeds will be between 14.5 and 16.5 mph. Going downhill, or with the wind at your back will be faster. The main objective is to finish the ride without being too concerned about the average. The average will depend mainly on the wind, the hills, and who shows up. We will stay together and there will be one or two break-a-ways for those who want. We will take a break at the Beach and a rest stop at Wertheim about mile 10. Pulls would be appreciated.
If you have any questions or concerns please text me at 631.484.3490. Should there be a cancelation, or change it will be posted by 7:15am.
This week the East End Ride Series heads to the Northfork. Leave your cares behind and join us for a fun and scenic ride on the beautiful Northfork. We will head on a journey that includes beautiful riding, amazing vistas, some incredible homes, a series of fun rollers and of course a few water views. And to top it off, at the end of the ride there will be an option to get ice cream from Magic Fountain (which increases ride from 38 to 40 miles).
We will be running the ride somewhat as a tour, enjoying the scenery and views.
We will not be making a stop to buy lunch during the ride, but there will be a number of stops along the way, so please bring food you may want or need as well as sufficient hydration. As noted, there is a potential optional ice cream stop at the end of the ride for those who are interested. Most importantly bring an upbeat inquisitive attitude ready to explore and discover.
To join the ride or if you have questions, please text Bill Mastro at 917-921-5358. I'm always tweaking my routes. The final ridewithgps file will be forwarded to those that text me. Any updates or weather issues will be posted to the ride listing by 7:15 on the day of the ride.
