NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.
For Other Events in our area and off Long Island check out the "Other Rides & Events calendar" and the "Forums"

With only a few weeks before the FANY RIDE this weekend will be my final push for hill training. The plan over two days (Friday and Sunday) is to ride all the Gold Coast “Hills of Long Island” plus some more hills. You can find a description of some of the hills on SBRA website under “Hills of Long Island”. We will ride up most hills turn around and come back down before moving on to the next hill. Feel free to pass on any hill you wish or simply ride up to your desire and we will meet up at the bottom. Ride up at your own pace and down at your own comfort level. I rate these rides as a B+ with no regard to average MPH but based on difficulty.
Please bring snacks and drinks with you as we will take breaks as needed.
This is the companion ride to the long-running Kreb Shop "A" Ride. This week, we have a brand-new 50 mile route, which will keep us off of the dreaded “big roads.” ;-)
We make every effort to keep both ride groups together, but if there is a split, we let the A ride go ahead. We do scheduled wait-ups (and as necessary), in addition to one brief rest stop at mile 28 (the gas station on Edwards Ave/Rte. 24, with mini-mart and restroom).
Please park your car in the Bellport Municipal Parking Lot located at Bellport Lane & Bell Street, and then ride bike half a block over to the Kreb Bike Shop parking lot at 10 Bell Street, to sign-in for ride and hear the pre-ride briefing.
This ride will include a series of loops, 2 loops around the bike path (mostly car free) and 2 loops both North and South of the trail. Snack will be at Bean and Bagel. Porta potties are available at Veteran's Park. The bike trail has some shaded areas. For info: contact Bill G. at 631-356-3036. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 07:00am. We park at the far end of the lot, farthest point from the baseball fields.
Let's give the Bartlets a try again. They offer a bit of a challenge for poor hill climbers like me, but if we push on through this ride a few times we should get stronger. Although, I must say, it hasn't worked for me yet, but I haven't given up trying. So come on out and suffer with me. The pace will be a B- until we hit the hills then it will be at whatever pace you can do and there will be be a wait-up for me at the end of the Bartlets. We will take a short break at the golf course. Coffee and rolls are available or bring your own snack. Cancelations or changes will be posted by 8 am.
COME ON THIS 18-22 MILE RIDE AT A 10.6-11.6 PACE. Newbies always welcome and well taken care of. Bring water and a snack if we do not stop as direction depends on the wind direction, tide, position of moon and leaders disposition. Nobody gets left behind. Any cancellation will be by 8:30am.
I will be testing a route alone the North Fork I plan to be using for my picnic ride. Since I am not that familiar with the route we may be stopping offen, and the pace may be a bit slower then posted. There are few reststops along the route we can use. However, please bring your food/snacks and drinks for this ride.
Note: If you plan on riding with me please RSVP as soon as possible. Mike 516448-8545
