Grand Tour of the North Fork, from Manorville out to Orient. Route is mostly flat, with a climb at the Northville tanks on the way out, and some rollers on Soundview Avenue.
Pace will be on the lower end of B/B+, will keep cruising speed around 17-18 tops, shooting for an overall 16.0 average speed. The group will stay together, and everyone will take turns with the pulls. I’ll pull on the downhills.
Please bring plenty of water and snacks. Quick stops at Iron Pier and Matituck Breakwater beaches, lunch will be in Greenport at the 45 mile mark. We’ll also stop at the Horton Point Lighthouse on the way back.
We can all have a drink in The Maples after the ride, with all the other bikers.
Directions to The Maples: LIE exit 70, head north on CR 111 about 1/4 mile to Ryerson, right turn on Ryerson, park across the street from The Maples on the east side of Ryerson.
the OTHER bbb we will meet at the new home of the bluepouint brewery and ride to smithspoint beach post ride exploration of the new tasting room and eatery (has anyone been there??) hoping other ride leaders will post companion rides (more riders=more fun) bring a change of clothes and money for the brewery-not sure if outside food is permitted.
Join us for a multi-level ride, where all rides will all end up back in Patchogue around the same time. We'll be leaving from the new Blue Point Brewery in Patchogue and then going to check out the brewary after the ride. Come for the ride and/or come for the social aspect of the club (no drinking required). Bring a change of clothes for after the ride and some money if you plan on having lunch or brews there. With their new "tasting room" we cannot bring our own food, as we did at their old/outside location.
Any food and/or brew costs are at personal expense.
The "CHANGE" noted above is the Ride direction, whichwill be determined on the morning of the ride. One option is to go east to the Smith Point Marina (not the beach) and the second is to go west/north (through Sayville, up around Ronkonkoma, through Bohemia {which is where our break would be}, back around Sayville, and returning to Patchogue. Somewhere along the way both routes will see the Great South Bay.
This is a C+/B- ride which will average 13.5 - 13.9 {depending on the riders, the wind, etc.} and the ride distance will be 27-28 miles, regardless of which direction we ride.
Originally I posted this as SS manorville ride, but i am changing the ride so we can be part of Rons BBB(Bike Beach Brew) ride. You do not have to stay after the ride to go to the new Blue Point Brewery so don't let that keep you away. This year I do not thnk we can bring our own snacks so bring some money if you plan on having lunch or brews there. Look for cars but I believe we park where we used to park across from the Y but not in the Y's parking lot. Looks for the bike racks!
Parking lot across from Little Vincent's Pizza. We want to get our hill legs working to prepare for next week's Fairfield Hills Ride and the Discover the Hudson Valley ride. We love scenery and hills offer the best. We'll tour a number of North Shore beaches and water views Long Beach, Short Beach, Cordwood, West Meadow, Old Field, Port Jeff and Crystal Brook Hollow. The last 11 miles are relatively flat. We will be patient with any riders also developing their hill legs.
Afterwards, join us for a couple of slices of one of Long Island's Best Pizzas - you earned it. No credit cards accecpted.
Let’s join Ron for the BBB. Check his ride for details. My ride will be the same as the Mi Tierrita ride with a few changes. After the ride we can have some beer and chat if you want.
The ride - will be going to Smith’s Point. The route is mostly flat with a small incline here and there. The route on the way back may change depending on the wind.
The average pace for the ride will be between 14.5 to 15.0 mph, depending on the roads and wind direction. The road speed will be between 15 and 16.5 mph. We'll stop along the way for a bathroom break around mile 12. Don’t forget to bring a snack for the stop along the way.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:30 am if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call or text anytime if you have questions about the ride or need directions to the start...
We will head first to the beach and then home by heading north to Sunrise Hwy. North Service Road. We will finish in the mid to upper 17s dependent on the weather conditions. Here is the route https://ridewithgps.com/routes/30246999
Low C+ paced ride to Manorville for our break at McD's or bagel place. Check back for any changes which would be posted by 7 am. Looks a bit breezy but what else is new?!
This ride will have two breaks, midway thru the ride we stop at McDonald's in Manorville, than head up to the North Shore and Wildwood State Park. Both stops have restrooms, and Verterans Park has Porta-Potties available. Some of the mileage will be on the car-free Grumman Trail. For info: contact Bill G. at 631-356-3036. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 07:30am.
A new course with long rocking highway runs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuyR6SZGEqs , that eventually gets us out to Briermere Farms at around 26.5 miles. Kick in the pedal and let's get a little bit faster...we don't have to ride a hundred miles. The return will include some rolling terrain, including Deep Hole, with a new twist.
So, clean-off the bike from the Century, dig out two water bottles and let's rock!
No booze on this cruise, but a chance to grab some of Briermere's goodies and coffee!
SORRY HAVE TO CANCEL THIS RIDE. MAY SEE YOU AT BBB

This ride wil not go to the Beach as I am not in shape to do a 40 mile ride at this time. Not sure of the route yet but it will be in the neighborhood of 25 miles
This will be a B/B+ paceline ride probably at the lower end of the ride classification I will post the route as soon as I can
