Join us for a series of loops in scenic Harriman State Park. Planned route has 4 hilly loops and 5000+ feet of climbs, with the option to shorten the ride as the loops start and end near the car. There are bathroom & water stops, bring your own food and coolers for the car. Bring dollars if you want to use the soda machines.
Ride is rated B+, not for average but for effort and bike handling skills required on long and steep climbs and descents.
Come join us for a ride out to Iron Pier and a stop at Duffy's in Jamesport for a quick snack. Changed to B+/A ALL ARE WELCOME!! This will be a strong but easy steady pace! The group will stay together and there will be wait ups along the way. This is a NO HIJACKING and NO DROP RIDE! Any questions, feel free to reach out anytime.
NOTE NEW START TIME - WE WILL GET OUT EARLIER TO BEAT THE HEAT!
Join me for a short, early ride to beat the heat, get some exercise, and still allow us to have most of the day for other activities. We will loop around from Ronkonkoma to Connetquot, and then return through Ronkonkoma, where we will make a brief bathroom stop. This is a structured C+ ride which will average 12.5 - 13.0, with cue sheets and no one will be dropped.
PLEASE NOTE: This ride leaves from the NORTH side of the RR Tracks and we are meeting in the parking lot EAST of the train station.
I haven't fully planned the route but it's all roads I'm sure you have been on before and I will have a cue sheet. I am looking to come in at 15.5 which means we will be doing 16-17 mph on the straights. No one left behind but we would like to keep the group moving so we are not out all day especially if it's going to be hot. There will be a food stop at some point but make sure you bring snacks, GU or whatever you need to keep you going. Please have appropriate water bottles and other necessary equipment such as extra tubes, CO cartridges, etc. If you have any questions, please contact me.
We will ride to Smithpoint Beach, stopping at 7/11 if anyone needs for coffee, drinks or eats...the average speed will be between 14-15, and pace on the flats around 17ish depending on the wind/weather and the group.. you can call my cell 631-882-4366 if you have any questions about this ride.
Park in the King Kullen lot in the area closest to 7-11 and McDonalds. Briermere has bathrooms and picnic tables, plus a collection of goodies, and coffee and frozen fruit slushies which are perfect after riding in Summer weather. Speed will average 14-15mph, with slightly higher cruising speeds on the flats. Speed is dependent on rider ability, temperature and wind. Looking for riders to share the expense and eating of a pie, non-pie eaters are also welcome on the ride. For info. contact Bill Gravitz at 631-356-3036. Check ride calendar for any changes which would be posted by 7:00am day of ride.
PLEASE NOTE: Park in the usual section of the shopping center except closer to Montauk Highway. The property owner has erected no parking signs. However, we have his permission to park there. This was clarified in the recent SBRA blogs. http://www.sbraweb.org/node/20799
This is the third of the SEAGULL CENTURY training rides. You DO NOT have to be doing the century to go on any of these rides. The ride will be about 47 miles; I know you won’t have any problems. We may take turns at the front, this way you can enjoy the wind in your face and be the first to smell the roses, or the road kill.
Today’s route will take us to Eastport, Remsenburg, Westhampton Beach, and points east usind Dune Road. If the wind is in the wrong direction we will take the inland route. The average pace for this ride will be between 14.8 & 15.0 mph +/-, depending on the wind and other factors it could be in the lower "B" range. The road speed will be 15-17 mph to produce the average. Around mile 28 there will be a food/pee stop at Tully’s (if they are open) or the Green Door, or save you appetite for the next stop which will be the Beach Bakery. There will be about a 10 mile leg stretch for those who desire. Be sure you bring water and something with electrolytes in it.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:00AM if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride
