Ride up to Wading River then go for the hills. We'll do 5 sections of hills with regrouping and socializing after each section. Then we will head back to Manorville. There is an optional 15 mile loop for those interested.
Park in the King Kullen lot in the area closest to 7-11 and McDonald's. On the way to Briermere's we will make a brief stop to watch the American Bison if they are in the field closest to Reeve's avenue. Briermere's is about 15 miles into the ride, and has bathrooms and picnic tables. As always, I am looking for riders interested in the sharing of the expense, and eating, of a pie. Non pie eaters are welcome on the ride. Speed will average between 14-15mph, depending on wind, temperature and rider ability. Check the ride calendar by 7:00am day of ride for any changes. For info. contact Bill Gravitz at 631-356-3036.
NOTE NEW START TIME - WE WILL GET OUT EARLIER TO BEAT THE HEAT!
Come out and join me for a nice morning ride around Riverhead, with a snack/bathroom break at Briermere. See the Sound and the Bay. Ride straight north from Sayville to Old Field Point. Rest Stop in Stony Brook Station about half way through the ride. Some hills because we have to go over the moraine twice but none of the hills are very steep. Swing by the Bay on the way back. B- effort No one gets dropped, wait-ups where necessary.
It’s off to Manorville with a little change over last week; 3 more miles. The average pace for the ride will be between 14.8 to 15.0 mph +/ depending on the roads, wind direction, group and other conditions which could put the ride in the lower part of a "B". Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -17 mph.) to produce the average. A rest/ food stop at McDonald’s or the bagel shop is on the schedule around mile 12. There are a few places along the route where leg stretches can be done for those who wish.
