Join us for an A paced ride from Rocky Point past the Tank Farm and then to Duffy's Deli in Jamesport. This is classified as an A ride but if you are a strong B+ rider you will be able to handle this ride without any problem. No one will be dropped and it is a great route...one of the best on Long Island!
Join me for an early morning ride from Ronkonkoma to East Islip. We will take a short break at the Timber Point Golf Course, where we can use the facilities, grab a coffee/beverage/snack, and look out at the Great South Bay. This is a Strong C+ ride which will average 12.5 - 13.0 (depending on the wind, etc.), with cue sheets.
PLEASE NOTE: This ride leaves from the NORTH side of the RR Tracks and we are meeting in the parking lot EAST of the train station.
NOTE: Due to a conflict in my schedule most, if not all, of the training rides will be moved to Sunday and replaced with a shorter ride (Great River 28) on Saturday. Please check the schedule
This is the second of the SEAGULL CENTURY training rides. You DO NOT have to be doing the century to go on any of these rides. The ride will be about 41.4 miles and I'm sure you will have no problems with it. We may take turns at the front, this way you can enjoy the wind in your face and be the first to smell the roses, or the road kill.
Today’s route will take us to Manorville and back via BayportThe average pace for the ride will be between 14.7 and 15 mph +/- Depending on the wind, road conditions, the dew point, and the group.Naturally the road speed will be slightly higher (15-17) to produce the average. Around mile 19 or so we’ll make a pit stop; you can go to Mickey D’s or the deli. There will be a few long spots where one can stretch the legs if desired, working off any extra calories gained at the rest stop. Make sure you bring water and something with electrolytes in it. Use only approved water bottles, we don’t want any accidents; no original store bought bottles in those cages, please!
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:00AM if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride.
Who does not love the Beach Bakery? This is the usual ride to dune road through Quogue and our stop will be at the Beach Bakery for a refresh and bite to eat. Easy ride to Babylon with a quick stop at the docks and rest stop at the bagel store in Babylon. We wil finish with a 15.0-15.5 mph average. Bring $ or snacks.
The aliens have put out an open invation to participate in the Alien Ride and visit that crazy Area 51. With a kinder B+ pace, we'll leave the Manorville King Killen for a ride out on the Alien Loop. Hijackers are free to go off the front; we'll keep a group together so no one rides alone.
There is No formal stop, but a couple of regroups along the way, including at the refurbished Hess station.
Allons-y!
