Rocky Point to Northport. Its the hill ride extended into Ron's Wild Turkey Ride. I classify this as an A ride with Plenty of Hills. Riders MUST be self sufficient, however there WILL BE WAIT UPS! The group WILL stay together! This will be a slightly different version as we will be looking to get 10k feet of climbing! We'll start hills into some rollers then hitting more hills in Port Jeff, rollers through Setauket, Head of the Harbor, Nissequogue, Kings Park, Fort Salonga and Northport and many hills in between! This is a hilly ride so be prepared with energy and hydration. We will have a deli stops for refills. I'll post any changes by 5:00am morning of ride, if unsure, contact me. See you then! I will have a cue sheet for the western segment. https://www.strava.com/routes/2063704
CANCELLED!
Continuing the search for the Wild Turkey of Sagamore Hill
May add a hill or two for fun, but mainly a flat ride except for riding up to Sagamore Hill itself
Deli stop in Oyster Bay.
No go in rain or extremely wet roads with no sun
Out and back to Manorville. We will stop in Manorville for a quick break for a food/rest stop. We may or may not add some miles in Manorville if we are all in.
We'll take the back roads out to Cutchogue and New Suffolk, visiting Iron Pier beach and Breakwater Beach along the way. Lunch at the Cutchogue Deli.
Pace will be a moderate B.
Any updates will be posted by 7 am Sunday morning.
IN ORDER TO CONFORM TO CLUB RULES AND GUIDELINES THIS RIDE WILL NOW BE A STRUCTURED RIDE WHERE THE GROUP WILL RIDE TOGETHER. Please arrive a little early (8:30) so we can get together and ride out at 9AM.
I'm stealing the idea (of a club ride on this great charity ride) from Bobby Ploetz.
I did this ride last year from Osprey Vineyards out thru the North Fork's Orient Beach State Park and back (35 miles total). Its a charity ride and sign up is thru a link you can find above. There were bagels before the ride, snacks and sandwiches at Orient park, and food on the return to the vineyard. Osprey had entertainment, and discounts on their bottles of wine. A great time was had by all. Portapotties were set up along the route to the park. This ride is structured, but we can try to ride together at around a 11-12mph pace. I will have a ride sheet so you can get credit for the ride. Read Bobby's post for more info. (Yes, I copied this from Bill's posting)
This is a long post; please click “more” at the bottom for the entire post. Ok, boys and girls it’s time to think about the Osprey Ride. For those you did this with me last year you know we had a blast, it was nothing short of fun, fun, fun. If you missed it last year, try it this year; you won’t be disappointed!
After the ride there will be free food, live music, giveaways and wine tasting at Osprey’s Dominion as well as discounted prices on wine bottles for riders! I will have a ride sheet to sign if you want the mileage. I have posted this as unstructured since I don’t know who will show up. However, I will be doing a B- B at the average pace I usually do. Yes, you have to dig in the pocket for some money; it’s for a good cause.
Check the link below for more information about the ride and how to make a donation. Please attach a comment to this posting, letting me know if you’re interested or have signed up for the ride. You may also call me at 631-484-3490. Check link below for arrival times. I would like to have our group me no later than 8:15AM.
I did this ride last year from Osprey Vineyards out thru the North Fork's Orient Beach State Park and back (35 miles total). Please be there by 08:00am, which will give you time to check in/register, hit the porta potties, and grab a bagel. We will park in the rear lot on the East side, look for a blue elantra with an SBRA-C+ sign in the window. This is a long post so read the "read more" part. This is a charity ride and you can sign up thru a link you can find under Bobby's posting. There will be snacks and sandwiches at Orient park, and food on the return to the vineyard. Osprey had entertainment, and discounts on their bottles of wine. A great time was had by all. Portapotties were set up along the route to the park. This ride is listed as unstructured, but we can try to ride together at around a 12-13mph pace. The route is well marked, so riders are free to set their own pace and not stay with any group, since this is an unstructured ride. I will have a ride sheet so you can get credit for the ride. Read Bobby's post for more info. You can contact me at 631-356-3036. Please be at Osprey by 08:00am. This posting is long and you may have to click on "read more" to read the rest. Let me know under Comments if you will be on this ride. If you can't locate me at Osprey, call my cell listed above. All riders will gather out front around 08:45 for a 9:00 start.

easy spin to the beach...will stop at 7/11 if anyone needs coffee ... we will break at the beach...call me
if you have any questions about the ride ...631-882-4366
**Update 10pm, Saturday evening: some drizzles are around overnight. Please check back here by 8:15am for updates. If it is drizzling, I will move the ride a bit later in the morning. **
Location note: This is Home Goods in Port Jeff Station (not Stony Brook). It is east of Old Town Road on Rt 347.
We'll ride through Poquott, Setauket and Old Field. Classified as B- due to the hills; for those who don't get to join the Wed Nite Roller Coaster, here's your chance (with the addition of Poquott). Wait ups as needed. We'll take a break at West Meadow Beach so bring a snack. Please arrive in time to be ready to roll promptly at 9:30.
**Please park towards the center of the lot, near the big shopping center sign with all the plaza/store names on it so that we aren't in the midst of store traffic. I will ride to the start from home and will arrive @ 15 minutes prior.
I contacted the park office (Tel#516-571-7470), no charge for parking in the main lot until after Memorial Day Weekend, so...I'll be parking in Cedar Creek Park located at 3340 E. Merrick Road, Seaford NY. We'll ride the bike path through Jones Beach, stop at Tobay for a quick rest stop then return. Bring a snack and drinks just in case the concession stands aren't open yet. This is a nice ride on the path; hybrids or mountain bikes are fine, road bikes are encouraged for an easier ride.
Call me on my cell once you get to the parking lot and can't locate me or any fellow riders; we'll figure out a place to meet so that everyone can sign in.
I'll post any changes (cancellations) for this ride no later than 7AM on Sunday morning.
