NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.

***4-30-15 Please let me know, by responding to this post, calling/texting me at 516-330-1542 or e mailing me at Triciasp "at" optonline.net to let me know if you are planning to meet me at the ride start. I will have a happy face balloon or two tied to my car so we can meet up to sign in.****
This ride is a fundraiser for Camp Paquatuck in Moriches-a camp for children with special needs. Register for the ride at www.inletride.com. Look at the bottom of the page on that website to register without setting up a fundraiser page (which is not required). Minimum registration amount is $25 but you can give more if you want. The ride is supported and goes from one end of Dune Road to the other (hope they pave it before the ride!). We will try to stay as a group though I listed it as unstructured as I don't know how crowded the road will be. Pace will be determined by who wants to ride together. Even the directionally challenged can not get lost on this ride! Cell phone 516-330-1542. The ride starts at 8 am so I'd like us to meet 20 minutes before. The event is rain or shine but I won't ride if it's raining a lot. Check back here the day before the ride and I will let you know where to find me in the parking lot.
Meet at the overflow lot south of the train station. There will be multiple food/rest stops on this ride ( TBD by the needs of the group ). The turnaround point will be at the Beach Bakery in Westhampton Beach. Pace should be on the lower end of the B- range ( 14.0 - 14.5 ). Cancellation for any reason will be posted no later than 6:30AM on Saturday.
A week until the Montauk Century. This ride follows the classic Bike Boat Bike route excepting we start at the Riverhead Waterfront Park and it avoids Scuttle hole road (which I don't like because of too much traffic on weekends). This is a very pretty route with many water views. We will ride both Shelter Island Ferries and there will be Deli stops in Greenport at mile 27 and in Noyack at mile 52. Bring money for the ferries and the Deli Stops. Pace will be in the 13's because of the hills and rollers - Max cruising about 16. This will be a taxing ride.
Mostly flat, lower mileage leading up to the Century next week. Please DO NOT jump into this group now if you have not been training with this group!!!! I have a tentative route, which might be tweaked beforehand, or possibly as we go. Same deal as in other weeks.
Please arrive 15 minutes before ride so we can leave promptly. Powell off Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway, Exit 8. Parking across the street from Bethpage library. Mostly flat ride via Greenlawn and Commack to Kings Park and San Remo. One or two hills before food stop at Park Bake Shop in Kings Park.
This is still century training but we are going to cut back the mileage a bit. We are going to stay together so if you cannot stay at the B pace the group is doing then please go on a faster or slower ride.(please do not take offense. We work much more efficient as a group.) We will stop mid point and grab lunch. Just not sure where that is yet. Check back the night before for any updates. This year, one never knows!
Dennis is busy this week so posting for everyone that wants to ride.
The route will be the 56/60 mile ride we did several weeks ago. We can decide on which mileage on Saturday.
Usual ride , usual suspects. See you there.
No Margaret so make sure you are self sufficient.
PS. If anyone wants to post/ride a longer ride I will be sorely tempted to cancel this one or change the mileage, but the majority rules......
We'll dial back the mileage a little this week but try to add a little velocity. Average around 14 depending on the wind. Lunch at the Green Door. Maybe an emergency pastry at the Beach Bakery. No Worries-Just ride.
I have to get this posted before Gary starts another search. It’s off to Manorville today if you want to join me. The average pace for the ride will be between 14.3 to 15.0 mph; perhaps a tad higher or lower depending on the roads, wind direction and other conditions. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -17 mph.) to produce the average. A rest/ food stop at McDonald’s or the bagel shop is on the schedule around mile 18. There will be some leg stretches along the way for those who feel the need.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 8:00AM if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about the ride or need directions to the start.
Rest stop Westhampton Bakery bring money, will be slow up CR 111, ride average will be C+ depending on wind and who shows up, not faster, no one left behind.
Park on the South side of RR across from Lacross field. Newbies always welcome. Quick stop to pick up a snack in Bellport to spend 15 minutes eating at the town dock. NO ONE LEFT BEHIND. Wheels down at 2:05PM. Average pace 10.5 to 11.5 or as fast as the slowest person. Always check for any cancellations by 1PM.
