NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.

Third B+ training ride of the season.
Visiting Area 51 today for just a bit.. then up 111 for a short stop at Manorville McDonalds
All B+ riders welcome...we will break into 2 groups as I intend on staying close to the 18mph average.
Let's give this a shot. We will make a quick stop at the 7-11 on William pky. The idea is to loosen up for the up coming rides. We will stick together.
WEATHER FOR SUNDAY LOOKS BETTER, SO I AM MOVING RIDE, JUST IN CASE.
We will start out at a low B pace and progress each week, increasing mileage (sometimes repeating a distance from the week before) and pace as the weeks go on. My intention is to have these rides on Saturdays. If weather forces a cancellation, I will TRY to reschedule for Sundays when possible (we are running out of weeks!) Rest stops will be roughly at the mid point, and we will have 2 stops on the longer rides.
This is our 3rd week of Century Training. So far so good for those who have come out for the rides! Each week the ride will get longer and hopefully the pace will pick up as well. We are still at a mid B pace so even if you are not doing the century please come join us. If you plan on doing the Century make sure you sign up! Our stop will be in Manorville around mile 20 where we will have a food/rest stop break.
Please note that we are starting in HOLTSVILLE today NOT the SUNSHINE MALL...
Sorry folks, it will be 27 degrees at the start with a "real feel" of 22. That coupled with icy roads don't do it for me. I'll post a ride for Thursday.
I'll be at the gym
all are welcome to ride or c/c ski or hike.... fat bikes would be the bike of the day no set pace---no set route--- day drinking at ride end is always an option
*******UPDATE – 3/29/2015 – 10:30AM– The local roads around Holbrook have been salted and sanded they are a mess. I’m going to take a chance on Eastport. I don’t know how many miles we’ll wind up with, it all depends on the roads and how many U turns we have to make. The ride will really be an explore and a crap shoot; If that squeeks your duck I’ll see you there.****** ***
UPDATE – 3/29/2015 – 7:20AM – DELAYED till 12:30PM. Let’s see if the sun comes out and improves the roads. Please check back around 11:00AM for any additional changes. I'll drive some roads this morning and take a closer look. This really sucks!
*** Oh Bobbbbbbbbbbbbbby, the jelly donut still calls. Let’s take a scenic ride through Eastport, Remsenburg and Westhampton Beach. The average pace will be between 14.0 and 15.0 mph. depending on the wind, road conditions, geese, ducks, squirrels, rabbits and that stray goat you see every once in awhile. Road speed will be between 15 & 17 mph; naturally there will be the usual leg stretches. Around mile 22 we’ll stop at the Beach Bakery for some goodies and a bathroom break before heading back to the start. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride or need directions to the start. Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 8:00AM if necessary.
I am changing this to be a training ride since we had to cancel on Saturday so I changed the mileage. Even though we are behind in the mileage I wanted to keep this ride the same as last week. I think another week of getting used to the bike and roads is needed. Right now the plan is to meet and the overflow parking on the south side of the track (across the street from the station) and head west to Bay Shore and back. We will loop down to Heckscher Park and then back to Sayville. I suggest you bring snacks and water. We will have a quick stop but we want to keep moving. A quick note: I do plan on doing the full Century and will will need to up the mileage significantly over the next few weeks. Remember come the day of the Century, if you are not comfortable doing the full Century the Metric is an option as well which there will be groups for you to join.
Please be sure to have extra tubes and CO cartridges on hand as these roads are not being very friendly. Better to be prepared!
If you have any questions or looking for additional information, feel free to contact my cell.
12:25 pm-I AM MAKING THIS RIDE A "GO"-I JUST DROVE SOME OF THE ROADS AND THEY ARE MOSTLY DRY THOUGH A BIT GRITTY.
7AM-I'm not sure if the roads will be okay by this afternoon. Check back here at 12:15 to see if the ride is cancelled. Can you believe this weather?!
Park behind Wendy's off Old Neck Road. We will weave in and out side roads of Center Moriches and into East Moriches. Brief snack stop at around mile 12 so bring snacks and drinks (no bathroom) Cell phone 516-330-1542.
