Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.

Sorry guys. I'm cancelling for today. Just playing on the side of caution with the roads and something personal has come up. Next week looks to be a bit better. Have a good weekend.
PLEASE READ THE FULL DESCRIPTION
I rode many different routes and just when things look good there are some bad spots that are just too dangerous and can't get around them and the cars are dodging potholes which is even more dangerous to us. Long story short, let's meet down at Heckscher Park, Parking Field 2. We will lap the park and head north to Union Blvd and head towards Babylon. Not sure if there will be a rest stop so bring snack/water and money, just in case. We will be heading into the wind and hopefully enjoy the "push" back. This will be a slow and very cautious ride. If the roads are wet in the morning I will cancel by 7:00 am. If you have any questions please call my cell - 631-767-3176. See you then.
This will be the first training ride for the full century. This group will be for those who are not experienced riders looking to do the century and for those who haven't been on the bike for quite awhile (like myself) looking to get moving at a slow pace. My goal will be to get the group up to riding a high B-/low B pace for the day of the century. I plan on having these training rides on Saturdays and the start time will get earlier as the training goes on to accommodate the longer miles. As the weather is unpredictable and the roads are not in the best of condition, I will post any cancellations at least 2 - 3 hours prior to the start time so it is imperative that you check back for any changes. If a Saturday training is cancelled I will do my best to move it to Sunday if my schedule and weather allows. Please be prepared with proper water bottles, snacks and extra tubes (just in case). I will be keeping the first few training rides on very flat roads as possible. Most the routes will be roads used for the century. About half way into the training we will start to go out of the ecology center which will be a bit hillier.
This particular ride will start at the Oakdale train station (park at the furthest point west) heading east to the Patchogue Train Station (bathroom break) and back. There will be no food stops so please bring snacks. Please come at least 1/2 early to the starting location so that you can set up and get ready to go at 9 am.
If you have any questions regarding this ride, the century or have just general questions, please feel free to contact me on my cell. Think Spring!!!!
This is the first training ride for the Century that I will be leading. Please join even if you are not planning on doing the century and want to start riding again. We will be going out to Manorville today and stopping at around 18 miles for a rest break.
Pace is still an easy B as we ease back into riding and prepare for the century. Each week the mileage will increase and as the group progresses we will be at a B/B+ average for the Century.
Remember there is the Century and a Metric option as well for anyone not wanting to do the 100 miles.
If you plan on doing the event make sure you sign up and send in your application.
Let's get this season started.
Ride with Bruce as we ride along Whiskey Road to the old Bagel Lady and then to Wm Floyd back to Whiskey Road and home. It's our first ride so we will take it easy. We have to re-introduce ourselves back to our bikes. I've been riding a bike all winter that doesn't have wheels or gears or SBRA women :(
Hope to see you there.
I would like to push off at 9:30 so kindly arrive WITH air in your tires already. It would be appreciated.

It’s off to Manorville, hopefully most of the melting snow will be gone. The average pace for the ride will be between 14.0 to 15.0 mph; perhaps a tad higher or lower depending on the road condition, wind direction and other conditions. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -17 mph.) to produce the average. A rest/ food stop at McDonald’s or the bagel shop is on the schedule around mile 12. There will be some leg stretches along the way for those who feel the need.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 8:00AM if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about the ride or need directions to the start.
Meet at the southeast corner of the Waldbaum's shopping center, near the Wendy's and train tracks. Pace is approximate, it may come in at less than 14MPH since I haven't been on the bike since the first weekend of January. We will head east through Moriches and Eastport with a snack/rest stop at the Beach Bakery. Cancellation for any reason will be posted no later than 7:30AM on Sunday.
We'll try to start the Century Training Season this weekend with a ride out to the border of Manorville. Mileage may change due to conditions. I'll ride with the solid B+ group, so come out and ride.
First Century Training ride of the season. We will keep the pace at a true B+. Paceline where appropriate. Due to the melting snow and sand on the shoulders we will use extra caution on certain stretches of the road. NO one gets dropped.. Just looking to get the rust off from a long winter. Possible rain so check the website for Go/No Go Cue Sheet: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/4195638 Bob D
I rode the route today, it is 95 % good 5 % pot holes, I will be going a lot slower then usual, if you need to go faster please go on a faster ride, I hope the rain stops in time for the roads to dry up, if I have to cancele I will by 8:30am, This will be my first Metric Century Training Ride also my first bike ride this year so it will be slower then usual, bring money for rest stop, no one left behind.
Join me on a slow, easy ride around Center Moriches, East Moriches. We'll stop briefly around mile 12 but no formal rest stop and no bathrooms available. Park in the lot behind Wendy's off Old Neck Road. Check back by 11:30 for the ride status in case the roads don't dry out or something unforeseen happens. Cell phone 516-330-1542.
