Here's the route - http://ridewithgps.com/routes/5762829

Features... Cross Island Pkwy bike path - Flushing Bay Promenade - Astoria Park - RFK/Triboro Bridge (possibly the scariest thing you'll ever do on a bike) - Ward's Island - East River Bike Path - Harlem City Streets - A full Central Park Loop - 4 miles down Hudson River Bike Path - 3 miles of city streets to Ed Koch/Queensboro Bridge - 5 miles of city streets to the World's Fair grounds – Loops at the Kissena Velodrome – Then city streets and Greenway bike paths to finish up the ride.

It's a 53 mile / 1700ft ride and (again) it will probably take all friggin day. (I'll figure out a lunch stop along the way.)

How about taking a ride to Great River today? We will go the usual route through Connetquot Park and then do a loop in Heckscher Park where one can stretch the legs a bit. The route is mostly flat with 2 little hills; maybe 3. The average pace for this ride will be between 14.8. & 15.0 mph, depending on the wind and other factors we could be a tad higher. The road speed will be 15-17 mph to produce the average. We will be making a deli/rest stop somewhere between miles 18 and 20.Additional parking far West side of bank and rear of Guinta's. DO NOT park in the shopping center lot.

My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride or need directions to the start. Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:30AM if necessary.
