Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.

This ride is part of the new “Special Ride Series” (SRS), and is designed to better assist new people who wish to ride with SBRA. This particular event is being run as a 1-Day Session by Joanna Pascucci (our Ride Director) and me for the “More experienced rider, but new to SBRA and group riding.” This ride will emphasize rider safety, SBRA club rules, basic bike mechanics and a number of things which are very important when riding in a group. This is for everyone who has not been on a group ride. Please make sure you have a working bike, a helmet (required on all club rides), water or a sports drink that fits in a bike cage and will not fall out.
After the discussion portion of the session, we will take a ride of between 10 - 15 miles, at a C+ pace (average of 12-13), depending on the abilities of the group.
If you have any questions, please contact Joanna at 631-656-0925.
How about taking a ride to Great River today? We will go the usual route through Connetquot Park and then do a loop in Heckscher Park where one can stretch the legs a bit. The route is mostly flat with 2 little hills; maybe 3. The average pace for this ride will be between 14.8. & 15.0 mph, depending on the wind and other factors we could be a tad higher. The road speed will be 15-17 mph to produce the average.
We will be making a deli/rest stop somewhere between miles 18 and 20. Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:30AM if necessary.
My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride or need directions to the start.
We will be riding my North Loop in reverse. (ESREVER)

DAYLIGHTS BURNIN! SO LETS GET OUT AND RIDE BEFORE THE WHITE STUFF FALLS OUT OF THE SKY.
Plan is to head west through Bohemia, Oakdale and East Islip with a stop at the golf course for a snack. Average pace comes in at 11-12.5MPH. NOBODY GETS LEFT BEHIND. As always, newbies are always welcome. Any cancellation by 8:30AM. Park across from train station on south side and don't be confused with the SRS ride that will be there between 9 and 9:45. Last week we lost 3lbs and if you ride with me this week I guarantee you will lose 2lbs of body fat. Also, if we are captured the president will disavow any knowledge of our existence. This message will self destruct after midnight Saturday.
I will be doing this ride after the SRS that is at 9:am for anyone that wants to sleep in or has things to do first thing in the morning.
We will go to Bellport where we will break for a rest stop. Bring a light snack if you need to refuel before heading back. This is a B ride so the average will be around 15.4-6 mph at the end of the ride.
