Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. Boo Hoo-my last day off before going back to work. Join me for a nice, easy, mostly flat ride to the Quogue Wildlife Refuge. We will stop there for the bathrooms and snack (bring your own). Back early enough to enjoy the rest of the day. Cell phone 516-330-1542.
It’s off to Manorville for a change. The average pace for the ride will be between 14.8 to 15.0 mph. perhaps a tad higher depending on the wind direction and other conditions. Naturally, the road speed will be slightly higher to produce the average. A rest/ food stop at Mc Donald’s or the bagel shop is scheduled about mile 18.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:30AM if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride or need directions to the start.
If you are off on Labor Day and want to get a little exercise in before any festivities later in the day, please join me for a ride from Hidden Pond Park in Hauppauge (where The Rinx are located), through Ronkonkoma, to our break at the Holtsville Ecology Center. Bring snacks and something to drink, or you may pick something up at the 7-Eleven around the corner. Our return will go through Holbrook and Ronkonkoma. This will be a C+ ride, with an average of 12.3 - 12.7, and there will be cue sheets.
When you enter the park, we will be meeting in the first parking lot on the right. There may not be any bathroom facilities open, so make a stop before you get to the ride.
