Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. Join me for an early morning ride to the Holtsville ecology Center today. This ride has a little of everything so it feels like an interval spin class when you are done! We stop at the Ecology Park for a quick break and head back. Check for updates the night before and morning of the ride!
The longer way to Westhampton Beach-we will go out to Quogue first. Low B- pace. Rest stop at Beach Bakery at mile 22. Cell phone 516-330-1542. Always check back to see if weather or other factors change the ride.
I'm postponing Slow Hills for a week as we are now in shape for Hill on Wheels. Slow Hills will be back next week at 9:30.
A ride to Port Jeff with quite challenging hills here and there (not East Broadway). Brief rest stop with bathroom and buyable snacks at about mile 16. Ride will probaby average mid- to low-13 due to hilly terrain. If you've been doing hills all season, you will enjoy this challenge.

This ride is mostly flat but has some rolling hills on Soundview Avenue and a few steeper hills in the Nassau point area of Cutchogue. The route is on mostly scenic secondary roads that are lightly traveled. Please bring pocket food for our break at Nassau point. After the ride we can pick up food at a Southold deli and eat a late lunch at Founders Landing.
Sunset is 7:56pm, and losing light fast. As the ride, with breaks, takes about 2 1/2 hours to complete, we'll continue with the 29 mile ride for a while longer.
This is a hilly and structured ride through Stony Brook, Setauket, Poquott and Old Field. Structured means we stay together as a group. A few specific locations have been designated for riders to break-away from the group, as instructed by the ride leader.
Narrow roads require single file/staying to the right riding along most of the route. The ride leader has been known to point out miscues along the way.
Bright colored clothing and bicycle lighting, front and back, are highly recommended.
