NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.

Quick ride to Holtsville Ecology Center and back. This is a 22 mile ride with a short stop and then back. Please pack in the first lot on the right as you go into the pack. check for changes the morning of the ride.
Park in King Kullen lot closest to Montauk HWY. We will ride thru Eastport, Remsenberg, and
Westhampton, taking Dune Road west to Cupsogue County park. We will take a short break for snacks/rest rooms, than head out to the Beach Bakery in Westhampton for a bathroom/snack break. Average speed will be about 13.5mph, depending on rider ability, wind speed, and temperature. There are no major hills on this ride. Want to improve your hill ability? This ride is for you. We do B- on the flats (14-17 cruising speed) and whatever we can on the hills. Wait ups after hills whenever necessary.
Break at Old Field lighthouse (no bathroom) followed by the PLUS: a 3-4 mile loop flat or hilly (your choice) before we head back to reality and the parking lot.
Ride average will be around 14.

Sunset is 8:05pm, a minus 8 minutes from last week. This 29 mile ride should still do-able with the amount of light we have.
This is a hilly and structured ride through Stony Brook, Setauket, Poquott and Old Field. Structured means we stay together as a group. A few specific locations have been designated for riders to break-away from the group, as instructed by the ride leader.
Narrow roads require single file riding along most of the route. Bright colored clothing and bicycle lighting, front and back, are highly recommended.
Sorry, I have to go to work earlier than expected. I must move the time to 5:00 and cut the mileage to 15. A quick after work ride. no food stop,but there will be bathroom stops if needed. no one left behind. The ride will be between 18 and 20 miles.
Start location returns to JFK elementary school and the time has been moved up to 5:30PM. We will ride around East Islip and Islip with a stop at Islip Beach and maybe a loop of the bike path in Heckscher Park. Cancellation for any reason will be posted no later than 3:30PM.
