Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. While Bruce is working this day, we will carry on without him. We will ride his picnic ride from years past. This will be a slow to moderate B ride, with average speed at 14.5-15.0 mph. There will be a few miles of of early ride warm-up pace so that all riders can get loosened up and so that the ride leader does not hear names called in his direction that he never heard in Sunday school. Please note the start time.
**Mileage CHANGE to 28 Miles** I tend to be long winded so click "read more" on the bottom for the entire post. - It’s time for a scenic picnic ride. Really, this is my kind of ride, pie and refreshing liquid afterwards; what more could you want. So, join me for a nice ride before the picnic where we can burn some calories, not many, just enough for that piece of pie. We’ll peddle for an average pace somewhere between 14.5 and 15.0 mph. Bring a snack if you want; don’t spoil your picnic appetite.
There are showers there if you want to bring a change of clothes; first one back gets the showers first.
My cell phone number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride or need directions to the start. Cue sheets will be provided. The Ride will be cancelled only if the picnic is.
It's Picnic time! B ride before the fun begins! No food stop on this ride since we are coming back to have lunch! Bring a lite something like a bar if you need to have a pick me up. Pace is an easy B and we all stay together.
We'll do a scenic ride out to Cutchogue via Peconic Bay Blvd. and New Suffolk Ave and return via Depot Rd. and Oregon Ave through Mattituck. Leader will maintain a 12-14 mph level ground cruising speed. No one will be dropped.
Ride at an 11-12MPH Average pace for this 25 mile loop. Be back in time for Food and Grub. NO ONE LEFT BEHIND. If you didn't sign up for the picnic you can still come out and ride. Any cancellation will be by 8AM.
Ride before the picnic. You can still do the ride even if you don't attend the picnic (btw-money is due by July 1!). Pace will be no higher than low B- (13.3) but will adjust to the needs of the group, also depending on what other ride classes are going out that day. Cell phone 516-330-1542.
We will make it back for the Piknik. Changed start time and distance as new auto parking situation restricts getting to my car until 7AM. 917-797-7873
This will be a simple ride out on Peconic Bay blvd. and return on Peconic Bay Blvd.
For those who like me forgot to sign up or just didn't want to go the picnic. Join me for a relaxed B/B+ ride. We will do the 45 mile version of Marty's ride. I want to keep a pace line with the cursing speed about 18-20 MPH and to try to keep the group together. Those who want to go off the front are welcome. There is the option to do Boy Scout Hill or a flatter version, the milage is almost identical for either choice. We will regroup and go into the break together. ***NO GO IN RAIN***
