NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.

Note: Time change to 08:30am to keep the ride a little cooler. Park in the lot closest to Montauk Hwy. The ride will go thru Eastport, Remsenberg, Westhampton, than West on Dune Road to Cupsogue County Park. Take a snack with you to have while we watch the waves break on the beach. On our way back we will stop at the Beach Bakery for snacks/pit stop. The ride will average between 13-13.5mph, depending on windspeed and group abilities. Sunset is 1 minute earlier than the latest Stony Brook gets at the summer solstice occurring at 8:27pm. Even so, we'll get to stop at West Meadow Beach allowing for all 3 activities: Ride to the end, bathroom and artesian well. The ride will forgo the Old Town Road climb, but will include Crane's Neck.
This is a hilly and structured ride through Stony Brook, Setauket, Poquott and Old Field. Hilly needs no explanation. Structured means we stay together as a group.
Narrow roads require single file riding along most of the route. The ride allows a few locations to break-away from the group, as instructed by the ride leader, otherwise the group will stay together.
Please join me for my first Lighthouse Run of 2014. Sorry no cue sheets. Still recovering but coming back. We will will ride at a B+ pace (hopefully). Ride is 25 miles may add a few more, up to the group. *****NO GO IN RAIN*****
Come join us for a stroll around the neighborhoods of W. Islip, Bay Shore and down to the beach. NO ONE LEFT BEHIND. Extra care taken for Newbies. Mileage depends on daylight, back before dark. Any cancellation by 4PM. Depending on wind and tide average pace is 11-12.5MPH. Janet, Carol - we miss you! And you also Irene!
Ride through East Islip, Islip and Bay Shore as far west as Brentwood Road. If time permits we may stop for a short break at Islip Beach on the way back. Cancellation for any reason will be posted no later than 3:30PM.
