Another great ride to the deli. Weather forecast looks even better. 1st half is hilly, do the hills at your own pace, regroup at the top of all hill segments. 2nd half is flat, we are going to do the full Monty which includes Randall, up to Bartlet, and down Church Street. Be there or be ......

Join me for a short, early ride to beat the heat, get some exercise, and still allow you to have most of the day for other activities (like the graduation party I'll be attending). We will loop around from Ronkonkoma to Connetquot, and then return through Ronkonkoma, where we will make a brief bathroom stop. This is a structured C+ ride which will average 12.2, with cue sheets and no one will be dropped.
PLEASE NOTE: This ride leaves from the NORTH side of the RR Tracks and we are meeting in the parking lot EAST of the train station.
All puns must be unbearable. Enter parking lot from East Main Street and park at east end of lot. Food stop at deli in Cutchhogue. Opportunities to go as fast or slow as you want. No one left behind. My cell 646-643-6856
We'll travel to Belle Terre, then roll along North Country past the pond in Miller Place. After those hills, the remainder of the ride is rather flat, out to Whiskey and back via Pine to Old Town Road. Will come in at 14.7-15.2. A short break at McDonald's in Miller Place, so bring cash or a snack.
Parking note: This is the Home Goods in Port Jefferson Station on 347...NOT Stony Brook. Please park towards the center of the lot, near the big shopping center sign with all the store names on it so that we aren't in the midst of store traffic.
I will be riding to the start from my house. Call with questions: 631-804-5902
*Please check back here by 7am the day of the ride for any changes/cancellations.
I tend to be long winded so click "read more" on the bottom for the entire post. - We need to start at 9:15 because Tully’s doesn’t open till 11:00; I don’t want to get there too soon.
It’s a scenic ride through Eastport, Remsenburg, Westhampton Beach, and points east. The wind direction will determine the route to be taken. We‘ll be using Dune road as part of the route going either westbound or eastbound depending on the wind direction. If the wind doesn’t cooperate we will use an inland route which is just as nice. There will be some spots where one can stretch the legs if desired. This is not a pace line.
We’ll make a rest/food stop at Tully’s around mile 20 for some great clam chowder or fishy stuff. Peddle another 13 miles to the Beach Bakery for some sweet goodies or a bagel and then go back to the start. The average pace for the ride will be between 14.5-15.0 mph depending on wind and other factors.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:30AM if necessary. My cell# is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride, or need directions to the start.
