NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.

We will leave Sunshine at 8:45 and find our way to Smithspoint Beach at around 16 mile pace. I do not have a exact route planned yet but let's face it we won't get lost we all know where the beach is. The total mileage should yield 30-35 miles depending on the number of detours we take. We will break at the beach.
No go if it Rains.

Celebrate the first day of Summer with an honest ride on the North Fork to Orient. Buy lunch at ferry deli, eat in park and return to Jamesport. Dishonest riders take a cue sheet.
This ride is part of the new “Special Ride Series” (SRS), and is designed to better assist new people who wish to ride with SBRA. This particular event is being run as a 1-Day Session by Joanna Pascucci (our Ride Director) and me for the “More experienced rider, but new to SBRA.” We are offering this on two dates: Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 29 (you only need to attend one of them). This ride will emphasize rider safety, SBRA club rules, basic bike mechanics and a number of things which are very important when riding in a group. This is for everyone who has not been on a group ride. Please make sure you have a working bike, a helmet (required on all club rides), water or a sports drink that fits in a bike cage and will not fall out.
After the discussion portion of the session, we will take a ride of between 10 - 15 miles, at a C+ pace (average of 12-13), depending on the abilities of the group.
If you have any questions, please contact Joanna at 631-656-0925.
PARK ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE TRAIN STATION.
See you on Saturday! Cell phone day of the ride 631-523-2129.
PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT for Beginner Riders. There will be a "Beginner SRS" offered in July, which will consist of a series of rides, that will cover everything needed for beginners.
I tend to be long winded so please click "read more" on the bottom for the entire post. - This Saturday we’re going to Ridge again since everyone enjoyed the ride last week. It's a nice route with some good roads, and of course, some with pot holes, but what else is new.
The average pace for the ride will be between 14.5 and 15mph., depending on wind conditions, and other factors we might be just a tad over 15; nothing new here. Naturally the road speed will be slightly higher to produce the average.
Around mile 18 or so we’ll make a pit stop; you can go to Mickey D’s or the deli. Maybe the umbrellas will be out. Then there will be few long spots where one can stretch the legs if desired, working off any extra calories collected at the rest stop.
My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride or need directions to the start. Always check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:45AM if necessary.
Depart Riverhead North Municipal Parking lot by riverfront. There will be a lunch stop in Mattituck at 24 miles but riders are welcome to bring their own lunch or snacks. There is a stop at 15.8 miles for restrooms.
We'll try again to go to Smith Point. Park across from Kreb Cycle in the municipal lot. Stop at 7-11 before the bridge if you want to buy anything. Cell phone 516-330-1542.
Wheels down at 10:01 for this MOSTLY FLAT ride to the Timber Point Golf Course where we will stop to use the facilities and have a snack break. Average pace will be 11-12.3MPH. NO ONE LEFT BEHIND. Any cancellation by 9AM. SPECIAL CARE TAKEN FOR NEWBIES!
