Update at 7:45 AM, 1/11/14. The ride is a go. Bring a rainjacket just in case. Ride might be cancelled due to rain. I will post an update by 8:00 AM on Tuesday. Park in King Kullen lot in the area closest to Montauk Highway. We will be riding thru Eastport, Remsenberg and Westhampton, than going West on Dune Road to Cupsogue County Park. The park has bathrooms. Bring your own snack to munch on while on the boardwalk overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. On the return ride we stop at the beach bakery for a snack or a meal. Pace will average about 13mph, adjusted for the needs of the group. From the bakery the return ride is about seven miles. For information contact Bill Gravitz, 631-356-3036.
Weather is iffy; any cancellation will be posted by 8:30.
Want to improve your hill ability? This ride is for you. We do B- on the flats (14-17 cruising speed) and whatever we can on the hills. Wait ups after hills whenever necessary.
Break at Old Field lighthouse (no bathroom) followed by 3 mile loop flat or hilly (your choice) before we head back to reality and the parking lot.
Ride average will be around 14.
*After the ride, if the weather holds out, we will look for Stanford White's final resting place, about 2 miles from our cars.

This is a hilly and structured ride through Stony Brook, Setauket, Poquott and Old Field.
Last Tuesday's 32 mile ride was shortened due to threatening weather, so, let's give it another go.
With sunset at 8:23pm bright colored clothing and bicycle lighting, front and back, are highly recommended.
Narrow roads require single file riding along most of the route. The ride allows a few locations to break-away from the group, as instructed by the ride leader, otherwise the group will stay together.
No one new showed up for the 6PM start so it's back to 5:30. NO ONE LEFT BEHIND. Any cancellation by 4PM. Average will come in at 11-12.5MPH. As with these evening rides daylight is short so we LEAVE the parking lot at 5:30PM!
Ride through East Islip, Islip and Bay Shore as far west as Brentwood Road. If time permits we may stop for a short break at Islip Beach on the way back. Cancellation for any reason will be posted no later than 3:30PM.
