Riding the 68 mile route to Orient. Honest pace. I will avg 16. You can skip the last loop to lower miles to 57. Dishonest riders welcome. Bring enough H2O and snacks. Will look for (QUICK) rest stops along the way.
Quick ride to Manorville for Memorial day. Average will be around 15.7 . Rest stop will be at McDonalds for a quick refresh and then back. Check for any changes the morning of the ride.
South P-Lot is located off of Stony Brook Road North West Corner of Parking Lot. Short spirited ride into Ronkonkoma, St. James, Stony Brook, Setauket, up Mark Tree, to the LIE Service Road and back north. The mileage and route may vary depending on the groups wishes. Not Planning on making a stop.
Since longer miles were ridden over the weekend why not a do a short ride and reward yourself? We’ll start out from the Holbrook Country Club taking a ride past Lake Ronkonkoma on the East side. Continuing on, there will be leg stretches for those who want to burn a few extra calories for what’s coming. The average pace for the ride will be between 14.5 and 15.0 mph. The road speed will be slightly higher to produce the average.
About 2 miles from the end of the ride we are going to stop and have some yogurt, or ice-cream, with or without toppings, or coffee. Then sit back, enjoy, BS, and watch the world go by; not all day, just for 20 minutes or so, since I know you want to get back for the bar-b-que.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 8:00 AM if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions.
Please join me for a trial run of a new route for this year's Guide Dog Ride. We will leave from Hidden Pond Park in Hauppauge (where The Rinx are located), and ride through Ronkonkoma, to our break at the Holtsville Ecology Center. Bring snacks and something to drink. Our return will go through Holbrook and Ronkonkoma. The ride will be at the low end of the C+ category, with an overall average of around 12.2, and there will be cue sheets.
When you enter the park, follow the road to the first parking lot on the left. There may not be any bathroom facilities open, so make a stop before you get to the ride.
