Weather looks to spotty so I am going to cancel this ride.

****PLEASE READ*****Apparently the Ecology center is charging this weekend to get into to park. We will meet around the corner on Canine Rd unless you want to pay the 5.00 parking fee to put your car in the park. Up to you. I will be on Canine. Please check again in the morning to see if there is a delayed start or cancellation if it rains overnight and the roads are wet in the morning. The forecast is not looking great..

Repeat of last weeks ride to Manorville. After Memorial Day the Ecology Center will be charging entry fees for the summer so this will be the last post for me out of this location for the summer. I am working on an alternative start close to here so look out for those posts.
Pace will be around 15.7-16.0 average and we will all stay together. Check for any changes the night before or morning of the ride.

Lets make sure everything is ready to go for BBB. Please be on time and ready to roll by 8:30. Bring money for ferry and lunch

NOTE-Park on the west side of the lot, closest to the HESS station. This ride is mostly back roads in order to avoid holiday traffic. Rest stop in Manorville around mile 21. Cell phone 516-330-1542.

Nice, mostly FLAT (except for that freakin incline at the start) ride for snacks at the bakery. Average should be 11-12MPH. NO ONE LEFT BEHIND. Any cancellation by 8:30AM. Be there or be Square!

RIDE UPDATE - FRIDAY 8:30AM - SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION BUT RIDE HAS BEEN CHANGED TO CHECK OUT THE ROAD MARKINGS FOR THE 25-MILE BBB ROUTE. START TIME HAS ALSO BEEN MOVED AHEAD TO 9:30. I'M NOT SURE OF THE PARKING SITUATION AT STRAWBERRY FIELDS SO WE WILL START FROM THE MATTITUCK TRAIN STATION. WE BILL BIKE OVER TO STRAWBERRY FIELDS AND FOLLOW THE ROAD MARKINGS FROM THERE. WHEN WE GET OUT TO HORTON POINT WE WILL DETOUR OFF OF THE ROUTE FOR A FOOD STOP IN SOUTHOLD. AFTER THE FOOD STOP WE WILL RIDE BACK UP TO HORTON AND FOLLOW THE ROAD MARKINGS BACK TO THE START.

RIDE UPDATE - THURSDAY 11:30AM - JUST SAW THE COMMENT TO THIS RIDE POSTING THAT THERE IS A FARMER'S MARKET AT THE WATERFRONT ON SATURDAY. I WILL HAVE TO CHECK FURTHER AND EITHER CHANGE THE START LOCATION TO THE RIVERHEAD COUNTY CENTER OR CHANGE THE RIDE ENTIRELY. CHECK THE RIDE CALENDAR FRIDAY EVENING TO SEE WHETHER OR NOT THE START LOCATION HAS CHANGED.

Meet at the east end of the parking lot south of Main St, near McDermott St. We will ride east through Riverhead, Jamesport, Mattituck and Cutchogue, with a food/rest stop at the deli in Cutchogue. Pace will be on the low end of the B range ( 14.0 - 14.9 ). Cancellation for any reason will be posted no later than 7:30AM on Saturday.

Let’s take a scenic ride through Eastport, Remsenburg and Westhampton Beach. The average pace will be between 14.0 and 14.7 mph. Part of the route will be just a little different adding 2 more miles on Dune Rd if the wind is favorable. Naturally, the road speed will be slightly higher to produce the average.

Around mile 23 we’ll stop at the Beach Bakery for some goodies or soup, and a bathroom break before heading back to the start.
