Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. B+ Training ride for the Montauk Century. We will be visiting Area 51 .
Good ride for those of us that find Glen's ride just a tad too fast...
Average around 17 +
Since the weather for Saturday is predicted to be rainy, I've moved this week's ride to Sunday. This ride will be a slightly faster version of Bob's ride. We'll head out to Route 51 and then up to Sound Ave. to visit Boy Scout Hill (westbound).
We'll combine rides with Bob's if there aren't enough riders interested in this ride.
THE SHOPPING CENTER IS APPROX. 1/2 MILES WEST OF LIE EXIT 68 ON 25A.
The new name of the store is Sassy Salads.
Come ride with me as we ride a new route. This route is a combination of several sections of my other rides, just in reverse.
A group of us rode this route Thursday and the route received rave reviews :)
Bring $$$ for snacks. Rest stops will happen as the group requires.
We will head west and north from Eastport into Manorville, Calverton and Riverhead with a snack/rest stop at Briermere.
Pace should be higher than previous weeks ( 13.5 - 14.5 ), depending as usual at this time of the year on wind speed and direction.
If the weather forecast is bad for Sunday this ride may be moved up to Saturday.
Be sure to check the Ride Calendar Friday evening for any updates.
The bike path has been cleaned. How about taking a ride to Great River today? We will go the usual route through Connetquot Park and then do a loop in Heckscher Park where one can stretch the legs a bit. The route is mostly flat with 2 little hills. The average pace for this ride will be between 13.9. & 14.3 mph, naturally the road speed will be slightly higher to produce the average. We will be making a food/rest stop somewhere between miles 15 and 20. No one will be dropped. Always check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 8:00AM if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions or need directions to the start. There will be a venting and communication session after the ride. :)
We'll do a loop through Manorville, Jamesport and Riverhead with a snack stop at Briemere and an optional loop around the tanks. Leader will maintain a 13-15 mph level ground cruising speed. No one will be dropped.
LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED II
Take this mostly flat/downhill 20 mile journey through Ronkonkoma, Holtsville, and Bohemia. Winds will be 5-9 mph with temps in the mid 50's. No one left behind. Any cancellation will be by 9AM. Meet on the EXTREME North East parking lot. Wheels down at 10AM! If you're not there your legs will turn to rubber!
Bicycle on the South Fork before those noisy New York City prople flood the area. Leave at 10:30AM. Park at King Kullen parking lot across Ponquogue Avenue from the Hampton Bays RR Station. Lunch at great place La Parmagagna in Southhampton. Unfortunately only one-percenters are recommended to do this ride as most 99-percenters become severely depressed on viewing the gigantic hedges that line the Southampton roads where I and my compatriots summer.
