NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.
For Other Events in our area and off Long Island check out the "Other Rides & Events calendar" and the "Forums"

This will be a short flat ride down to Heckscher State Park and Back...maybe a loop in side the park or two depending how the group is feeling. This will be the time to see what you can do and open up and hammer through a loop, then back on the road Home. This a GREAT Warm-up to the season.
This will be the second training ride. Each week we will extend the mileage so we will be going to Moriches this ride. Since i cannot predict the weather, if we have cold temps the distance might get dropped back. At this point the weather will dictate the distance until there is no more snow on the ground!
Check the morning of the ride for any changes to the ride.
Well today starts the first of my Century Training Rides again. The ride level is a B. Each week the mileage will progress to where we should all be able to complete the century. My group will stay together and no one will get dropped. If needed we will have two groups, one group going slightly faster but doing the same route.
THE TEMPS AT THE START TIME MUST BE OVER 32 DEGREES OR THE RIDE WILL NOT GO.
PLEASE come on time and ready to roll.
Check each morning of the ride for any time or route changes due to weather conditions.
**Update 3/9/2014 – 7:40AM. Temps around 35, Wind @16. Reducing the mileage to 20, and will probably be on the lower end of the average; after all, this is supposed to be fun!**
How about taking a ride to Great River today? We will go the usual route through Connetquot Park. The route is mostly flat with 2 little hills. We will be making a food/rest stop somewhere between miles 15 and 20. The average pace for the ride will be between 13.3 and 13.9 mph, since most of us are just getting started. The road speed will be slightly higher to produce the average. Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 8:30 AM if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions or need directions to the start. REMEMBER TO SET YOUR CLOCKS AHEAD THE NIGHT BEFORE.
This is the first of the training rides for the Montauk Century. It will probably be on the low end of a B+ as I have not been riding. Dust the bike off and come out and get into it again. Hopefully this season will be good riding weather.
Because of the clock change and all those that ride to the ride, I moved the start to 10:00. I will pick up this week for Dennis and follow a bit of an extension of last week's route. Depending on the weather and wind, we should come in with a strong B+. Check the website for changes due to weather.
Sorry but I must move this ride to Sunday. Meet at the Manorville King Kullen, LIE exit 70 1/2 mile south, for an easy ride to Bean & Bagel, my first ride this year, will be at the lower average range for this ride, please get there early so we can leave on time, please check this website 1 hour before for any changes. Bring money for rest stop, Great bagels and coffee.
Ride to Quogue Wildlife Refuge for a snack and bathroom break (bring snack and water). Pace will most likely be on the very low end of C+ (around 12). Route is mostly flat. I still hope to do enough rides to be able to do the Metric Century but come along either way. Remember to set your clocks AHEAD one hour before going to bed Saturday night or you'll be late for the ride. Optional pizza after the ride. Cell phone 516-330-1542. Always check the website for any cancellations prior to the ride.
Since last Sunday's ride was shortened because of the weather I am keeping the distance at 20 for this week. We'll try to up the pace a little, into the low B- range ( 13.0 - 13.5 ). Snack stop at the Beach Bakery. We can meet up with Tricia's group after the ride.
