Details (RL read field instructions carefully):

Sunday 7:03 POSTING: The MTN. BIKE Ride is ON! Fog Advisory until 8 AM but even after it's lifted ... Please Drive CAREFULLY ... the woods will be less dangerous then the roads ... See you there ...

SEE TRAIL REPORT AND POSSIBLE CHANGE BELOW ....Do a loop (or two) and then join the crew at the diner for a bowl of soup (or breakfast) with a few $$ from the club; Attendees must be SBRA members to receive $$ for "soup". Subscribe to this ride and receive any weather related cancellation updates. PLEASE check back to this posting both one week before and also on the "day of" before leaving for the ride start. The ride start time/venue may be changed.. NO ONE GETS DROPPED IN THE WOODS!

TRAIL REPORT: The trail is certainly ride-able today. I walked in 1/2 mile on the exit and also have trail report from Marty Thomassen (who was nice enough to call me and furnish the report ... even though he can't be with us tomorrow as he is working ;-( . About 70% of the trail I walked had 1-2" of crunchy snow which will melt more this PM. Marty indicated there is more snow on some of the diamonds making them a bit slippery (which we can always skip based on the group). There did NOT appear to be any ice under the snow but I expect more melt and maybe a bit more mud ... Marty indicated NOT much mud (Calverton has great drainage). Marty's track was the only one there today but two young riders were going in at ~ noon.

POSSIBLE CHANGE: THE SOUPER RIDE IS ON ... if it doesn't rain in the night be there at 9:30 AM ... if it rains but clears out early enough then I will lead a B ROAD ride from the same venue ... we will do ~ 25 miles ... I did 22 miles with Joe B this morning and the Big Road shoulders are in great shape.

CHECK BACK TO THE RIDE POSTING TOMORROW MORNING ... By 7:30 AM I WILL POST THE TYPE OF RIDE I'm doing from Calverton .... note: if you want to do a Road ride regardless of what I lead then show up and ride your Road bike ... you may have to be a Ride Leader ;-) .

After doing this ride, you are allowed to snooze during the half-time show.

With the changing weather and road conditions I will check out the some routes and roads on Saturday for this ride. I don’t know where, or in what direction I will be going. All I know is I must get the legs moving; coffee and a bagel, or whatever about halfway. The average pace for the ride will be between 13.3 and 14.3 mph. Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 8:00 AM if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions or need directions to the start.

Details (RL read field instructions carefully):

Just can't shake these winter blues. Sunday's high around 40. With no precipitation. We will take an easy pace due to road conditions, hazards, and not having been on the bike. But there will be some challenging hills to get your heart rate up. Expected ride average between 13.5-14. Stronger riders welcome, but we stay together, and no one gets dropped. So get out your beater bike (or in my case, my only bike) and burn off a few calories before we plop ourselves down and watch the Big Game.
I will evaluate road conditions in the morning, so check this post before heading out.
My cell is 631-275-4293 Go Eli!

Details (RL read field instructions carefully):

Park behind Wendy's along Old Neck Road. Meander though side streets just to get out on my bike-which I haven't done in forever!! I'm being optimistic when I say low C+ pace; no one left behind. Roads have a lot of salt and sand on them so an older bike might be better. Cell phone 516-330-1542
