This will be a B+/A- ride... average expected to come in within the average 18-19mph range. I changed the location to Yaphank Firehouse.
This is a "top-heavy" ride, meaning more miles in the beginning, a break at Nettie's (mile 35), then 10-15 miles to finish. We'll also take a quick water break before going through Grumman (mile 23).
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride - if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. Taking turns pulling would be appreciated! I would like to keep the road speed between 15 & 16 mph and come in at an average between 14.5 and 15.0
Please DO NOT PARK in the Meat Farms parking lot. Use the west side of the bank if the east side is full. Thanks!
We’ll be making a rest stop around mile 19 at the deli/bakery. The route back will be determined by the wind direction. If you want to bring stuff for after the ride please do. Weather permitting!
We'll start from the Sayville train station and head to the marina with brief rest stops along the way. Pack some snacks & drinks to keep yourself energized and hydrated.
We will be leaving promptly at 9:30 am, so please ensure to arrive at least 20 minutes in advance in order to get yourself & bike ready to ride.
Text me at 631-521-0688 if you're interested in joining this ride.

This is a scenic Shelter Island Ride. At the ferry, ask for a round trip ticket for you and your bike, the ferry fee will be $6.00. The ride is flat, rolling and hilly, there will be wait ups for those of us (including myself) who are slow going up hills. Bring a sandwich/snacks and drinks for a mid-ride break. Just a steady Reverse 51, the shorter 37 mile route to warm up for our rides on Wednesday and Thursday. Rest stop at Wildwood Lake, hope to see you there!
Right now the plan is to do one loop on the bike path and then side roads with our stop at the Bean and Bagel close to the end of the ride. Looks like a nice sunny day so don't forget the sunscreen!
Off to Wildwood State Park, with a deli stop just prior to the park. Wildwood has picnic tables and restrooms, and is a lovely place to take a break. At the end of the ride we can all go for coffee and a bagel and chat as usual, if you want. One rolling, and 2 downhill's to a flat. Up hills - let's call it an overpass and a short upgrade. The ride could be a mile longer.
The average pace for the ride will be between 14.9 to 15.0 mph +/- depending on the roads, wind direction, rider ability, tailwinds, downhills, break-a-ways and other conditions. All of these conditions could change the final average one way or the other. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -17 mph.) to produce the average.
Any cancellation due to weather or any other circumstance will be posted no later than 0745 if necessary. If you have question about the ride just text me at 631.838.1458

Something new and different. We will do Red Creek rollers west to east, than we explore Southampton by the water. We'll have to walk our bikes in the sand a short distance to connect two paved roads (check the route). On return we do pleasure South to North (that should be a pleasure for sure). I've not ridden this route so we need extra caution in unfamiliar roads and turns. We'll need to be flexable in route and stops. Hope you can join for a fun adventure.
Dune Road with rain and wind is not good for riding: Ride is cancelled. There are numerous water views and several scenic stops on this ride. At mile 7 there will be a restroom stop in Westhampton Beach, than we will head out to Dune Road. Heading East, we stop at Dolphin Lane for views of the Atlantic, than ride out to the Inlet, sit on the benches facing the Inlet, and have a snack that riders should bring along. From the Inlet we do a couple of scenic stops in Quogue, than head over to the Quogue Preserve for a quick look around and a bathroom break. From the preserve we ride to a pocket park in Westhampton Beach, just seconds from the Beach Bakery, and a two minute walk to a 7-11. After the break we return to our cars, a 7 mile ride. Timewise, this is a long ride, so plan your day accordingly. Note: Strong winds can result in the ride being completly changed or cancelled. Be sure to check the ride calendar the night before the ride, and/or by 08:00am the day of the ride. To join this ride, text Bill G. at 631-356-3036 with your SBRA, emergency and cell numbers.
Today's Mi Tierrita ride will be going to the Beach. The route is mostly flat with a small incline here and there, and of course there must be one little hill. The usual break-a-ways will happen for those who desire. We'll stop along the way for a bathroom break around mile 10. Don’t forget to bring a snack. Do you know what AGUAPANELA is? Come and find out.

Looking for a bigger challenge? How about Rockin' Down the Highway to the tune of 64 miles? With the Doobie Brothers: https://youtu.be/jHCMG3sNYUA
We'll start a little earlier at 8:30 AM, to get ahead of the heat and winds. We'll head through the fields to Briermere Farms and then it's off to the Tanks and Mattituck. After a quick stop, it's back along Peconic Bay Boulevard to Riverhead and then Forge Road and River Road, before we head back to Manorville.
There will be lots of rolling terrain and the farms of the North Fork along the way. We'll keep a group together to fight the winds, but there will be places like the Tanks, where everyone can go at their own pace.
We hope to see you, as we prepare for a centuty and the longer rides of the Summer.
I'm looking to stay within the B+/A- ride classification while increasing the mileage. The overall ride average somewhere between 18mph and 19mph (hopefully on the higher end), which will depend on the group, the winds, etc. Max cruising speeds should be 21-22mph.
We'll regroup at the end of Pleasure Drive (mile 27) and take a 10-15 minute break at Main Road Biscuit (mile 37).
This 21-25 mile ride will be at an 11-12 pace depending on riders, wind, tide, position of moon and ride leaders disposition. No one gets left behind (unless your name is "noone") and newbies always welcome and well taken care of. Bring water and a snack as a back up to planned rest stops. Any cancellation will be before 7:30AM.
At the end of the ride we will be doing a tailgate get-together with many of our fellow club members.
This ride goes to Nettie's for our break. Netties has baked goods and hot drinks, bathrooms and a large outdoor area with seating. Feel free to bring snacks for tailgating on our return. Masks may be required at Nettie's, since rules keep changing. Please text me at 631-356-3036 to let me know you are coming. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 07:30am.

Join me for this scenicAlmost flatC- ride, cruising speed will be around 10-11mph.
This is more of a tour than a typical club ride. We will be stopping to enjoy the view along the way.
This ride is for seasoned riders who are Extremely comfortable riding on roads without shoulders.
We will be starting from Northport Cow Harbor Park, Cruise parallel to Northport Harbor on historic Bayview Ave. Then ride through what was until 1968, the Steers Sand and Gravel Company AKA "the Pit," now a quiet bayside community of private homes and condos. We will then head out to Asharoken along the narrow causeway for a few miles. Along Asharoken ave to our left will beNorthport Bay and to our Right Long Island Sound and Connecticut. We will then head to Bevin rd with its wonderfully restored Historic Victorian Bevin mansion along with many architecturally interesting homes. On our return trip we will retrace our route with further exploration of "The Pit."
Upon our return to Northport Village we will stop at the well known Copenhagen Bakery for a snack to enjoy harbor side at the park. (There is a bathroom at Copenhagen)
Please always check back here for any changes before leaving for the ride

This will be a B+/A- and I expect that we'll come in on the higher end of the range (closer to the 19mph range and general max of 21-22mph). We'll regroup at the top of 51 (mile 21) and take a 10-15 minute break at Nettie's (mile 29).
Group stays together, wait-ups as necessary. Flyers (a.k.a. dick-swingers) will not be tolerated and will be considered "off the ride" if off the front of group. Expect an 18 average at ride end.
We'll have post-ride coffee at the groovy Eastport General Store, it's 3 doors west of the Kreb shop on same side of street.
Monday Lake Tour. B+/A- pace. Cruise around 20 +-. Average around 20 MPH +-. Steady pace ride with little to no surging. A rest stop is half way at Wildwood Lake where there is a nice view of the lake and also a portapotty. Wait ups are as needed with the final on Mill Rd.and Halsey Manor Rd (stop sign) on the way back. Click on the link below to view and/or download the ride.
Please note that this is not a training ride and surging is a no-no. I like to ride as a group at a stready pace.
