Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. If you plan to do my ride then please contact me by texting to 631-988-6557 ... else I will ride from home and may not pass the exact start location.
It will be a slow ride as it's early in the year for 1800+ feet of climbing. I've posted a B- but the effort will be a B+ ;-). The finishing pace may be more like a C ride.
For this ride, we'll leave from Southaven Park and ride out to Riverhead. This time we'll add a couple of miles to keep it interesting! Along the way, we'll hit River Road, North Street, and Grumman Blvd. leading us to Route 24 to Riverhead. This will be a paceline ride and Route 24 will be perfect for pacelining.
After a break in Riverhead, we'll take the backroads through Riverhead to avoid the wind. Then it's River Road to Manorville and finally the long run down William Floyd Parkway (at your own pace), and the finsh at the Park.
This will be a fun time with some nice weather! Let's ride!
A ride out east. Scenic, and flatish. This will most likely be a low B- with stops to look at the views - I'm gradualy getting stronger! No one will be dropped.
We will be stopping at a Panera bread around mile 19.
Park in the east side of the car park in the area just past the little cafe. If any one wants we can stop in the cafe for lunch after the ride.
This will be an easy & flat C ride around Center Moriches, on a modified route to keep out of any winds that may crop up. We will average 11.0 - 11.5, and will be taking our break at Nettie's. There are some very nice water views along the way. No one gets dropped and we will be observing spacing rules, etc. Since the exact route will be determined as we go along, there will not be a cue sheet.
Please text me to let me know you are joining the ride.
Riders should arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start, to allow enough time for me to get everyone signed in and to "get yourself" ready.
