Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. So at our last ride at DD, a woman came up to us and said we had the legs of 20 year olds.So come out and see if that is true or does this person need a new set of glasses. RIde to Manorville
Ride destination and mileage CHANGED to Manorville. Please ignore the ride description below. Ride to take place at a future date and possible different start location.
Let's mix it up a bit and head to a different destination. The first 8-10 miles will be on more familiar roads. We'll head east after that until we get to the Peconic area then start to head back to Riverhead where we will take our break at Panera. Then some more unfamiliar roads until we get to River, Grumman and back to the lot.
Today's Mi Tierrita ride will be going to the Beach. The route is mostly flat with a small incline here and there. The average pace for the ride will be between 17 to 19.0 mph, depending on the roads and wind direction. The road speed will be between 15.0 and 16.0 mph. The usual break-a-ways will happen for those who desire. We'll stop along the way for a bathroom break around mile 10. Don’t forget to bring a snack. Do you know what AGUAPANELA is? Come and find out. Pulls are appreciated
For this FLAT (maybe 1 or 2 small hills) 18-23 mile ride the Average speed is 11.5-12.5mph depending on riders, wind, tide, position of moon and leaders disposition. Nobody gets left behind and newbies always welcome and well taken care of. Any cancellation will be before 9:00am. No need to text me.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start, to allow enough time for me to get everyone signed in and to "get yourself" ready.
Come join us for a slightly later start as make our way around Manorville and Calverton, on mostly quiet paths and roads. All and all, a neat 36 or so miles with some nice long stretches of riding.
We will not be making a stop to buy lunch during the ride. There will be a number of stops along the way, so please bring food you may want or need as well as sufficient hydration. There will likely be an option to head to Bean and Bagel after the ride for some bonus miles. Most importantly bring an upbeat inquisitive attitude ready to explore and discover.
To join the ride or if you have questions, please text Bill Mastro at 917-921-5358. Any updates or weather issues will be posted to the ride listing by 7:30 on the day of the ride.
Ride starts at Ronkonkoma RR South Lot A1 and goes to Sayville and Oakdale. This is a C+ ride, cruising at 13 to 14 mph to get an average of 12 to 13 mph. Any changes will be posted at least 90 minutes before the ride.
