Hi to all. I am back on the bike and have a clean bill of health but I do need a heart rate monitor. I like things to be simple and dependable and found in Performance the Polar FS2C for $69. I was wondering what people use nowadays. I do not want to be penny wise and dollar foolish but all I need is a readout of my heart rate. Thanks, 7speedsteve

Steve, I have an Omron Heart Rate Monitor that I don't use anymore. If you'll use it, you can have it.

The wrist portion offers an easy to read display for HR, time, and it has an alarm clock function.

Please let me know.

Steve,
I have had several different brands of heart rate monitors and can tell you that Polar is the standard by which all others are measured. I have had a 150 for eight years and it hasn't missed a beat (pun intended) and recently purchased another Polar model - I wouldn't think about any other brand of HRM - the others have all bitten the dust long ago. Just don't make the mistake that others on this forum have made - purchasing a 700 dollar video game for your bike (aka Garmin). It is like turning your bike into a Wii.....you might as well sit in front of your TV while riding!

Hey Steve, welcome back. Can't go wrong with a Polar. Just stay away from Flight Deck, they are completely unreliable, heavy, and reportedly causes excess chain drop.

Steve ,
You know I work for Polar so I'll try to be unbiased , ... but factually speaking , that is as simple as they come . It is equally as accurate as our $400+ units .
Quite water resistant and rugged and, Big easy to see numbers as well . The only upgrade you may want to consider , for the future perhaps , is our new Wearlink Transmitter ...a lot more comfortable ... not that the transmitter included is uncomfortable ....but the new Wearlink is Super comfortable . as it is made mostly of cloth type fabric . It is included starting in the Polar FT4 model which retails at 99
I believe Chris at Kreb has been selling some Polar lately ,
you may want to check with him also . Glad to hear you are back in the saddle . If I can be of any more help let me know .

Never enough ...
